I recently purchased from Louis Sellman a Lyman 457192 mold, and am guessing it will need to be sized a bit.  Can someone tell me the groove diameter of the more recent production Taylors/Uberti 1876?  Thanks all.

My guess is--that if those folks got their head on straight then that bore should be about a 0.457.  Best slug the bore if in doubt.  It that is the case then a 0.458 bullet will work just fine.  My rifle is an early one and it likes the 0.458 bullet that I cast at a 16:1 alloy what I copied off a box of original ammo. ;)

My Uberti '76 in 45-75 slugs out at .456, and it is a recent (about a year old) Uberti barrel.  Hope this helps.

I just joined 2 minutes ago. Happy to be here and have a new 45-75 from Buffalo Arms on order. This will be my 1st experience with these guns. I was thinking about ordering these bullets from MidSouth: 45/70- Caliber-350gr-RNFP-NO. 903. They are .458 hardcast swaged bullets with a crimp ring. I'd much rather spend 95 bucks/500 on precasts than fool with moulds. Question is this: If the barrel slugs out to be .456 and these bullets are .458 and made of hard lead, could I assume that these will be safe to use? I would like to shoot it with smokeless powder and take advantage of the bullets crimp ring that it has. Also am planning to get the Lyman 45-75 3 die set. For brass, I have heard that Jamison is getting back into producing the 45-75 in a couple of months. I will use these as soon as I can get em. Would be happy to hear opinions and advice.

Howdy, Big Zwey.  Welcome aboard!

Not sure what rifle you have, but original barrels slug at .457.  I shoot.458 in my Uberti.  In any case you should be fine with the .458.
