"I hate that Simmons seemed to almost just disappear, though I do not use his assembly techniques he was a good teacher and created some nice pattern packs."

I know he has some posts on the leatherworker site.  I downladed a 31 page PDF on holster pattern making, he had over there.

Thank you for your thoughts and sorry it took awhile to get back.

I understand what you are saying about people wanting a pattern. I made my first holster out of an old boot top when I was about 8 years old. We couldn't aford to buy one for my cap gun. I didn't have a pattern, so I wrapped the boot top around the gun and cut it out with a pair of sizzors and punched some holes in it and laced it up with a piece of string. String was fairly plentiful because alot of things you bought were wrapped in paper and tied with string. Later on about when I was in my 20s I made 3 other holsters for guns I had gotten. The first was a Colt Frontier Scout Buntline. One was a Ruger Single Six Convertible. Next was a Ruger Blackhawk Convertible. I don't have the Colt anymore but I made a holster for each one. Had to make my own pattern for each one. Now in my 60s I started making holsters again. I still haven't bought any patterns but, I have bought Chuck Burrors' cd, Jim Simmons' and John Bianchis cds. I figered if I was going to make these for the public I should try to learn as much from the pro's as I could. The cds cost quite a few bucks but, I have learned something from every one of them. I ain't sorry for the money I spent and I have made some good holsters. By buying these dvds I feel like I can make most anything some one might want and satisfy them. A man called me the other night and I told him  to tell me axactly what he wanted and I would make it. And he ask if I wanted 1/2 down and the rest when he picked it up. I told him to just pay me when he picked it up. He said I must be pretty good to tell someone that. I told him if when he came to pick it up and it wasn't what he felt like he had ordered, not to pay for it and I would keep it. When I bought something I wanted to be satisfied with it and wanted my customers to satisfied too. So I have made some to sell and I have made some custom holsters. I'm disabled and this allows me to make a few extra bucks. Myadvice to anyone that might want it is to think more about buying some DVDs and learn to make patterns and keep them for further use. That right, you didn't ask for my advice so don't use it if you don't want to, cause I ain't asking you to use it. Thanks anyway and here's hoping you make alot of holsters. Toby T
