In 2002 I built a Ruger Old Army buntline special with a 14-inch barrel and an R&D .45 Colt cylinder.

Despite the barrel length, it handles very well as a one-hand shooting iron.

I have a 7 1/2" ROA (as well as a couple of shortys), those three pieces of the rammer/lever whatever have a mind of their own. No prob with the 5 1/2" ROAs as the three parts are captive.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Mate, I just leave the wee rams off my 7.5" ROAs. Definitely makes things easier. ;)

Have you gotta different model to mine pard? `cos my  5 1/2"lever/rammer set up is the same as the one one my pards 7 1/2" Rooger. iffn ya aint careful that iddy biddy rammer ends up on the floor!! :o and I would lurv to have it behave!!

Thank you so much for that video. I have always lusted after an octagon barrel on my 5-1/2" stainless ROA. You really did an incredible job all the way around, the gun the video...all of it.
