Capt. Montgomery Little

General,  Don't forget Carthage and Sherwood and Cassville and Wilson's Creek and Lexington and be on the watch for those scoundrels from Kansas. If you should happen across anyone named Lane, just shoot them and head for Carthage. We will see that you get succor and some extra powder and ball to see you on your way home. Just stay south of the Mason and Dixon and all should go well.

Your Obedient Servant,  Capt. Montgomery Little, Jackson's Cavalry, Forrest's Escort, commanding

Note: As I learned at Thompson's Station, Tn in March of 63....Never, Never, Never get ahead of your troops. It could be fatal.

General, that's good advice from Capt. Little. After you cross into Kansas, you should check out Fort Scott. While it is a bit earlier period, basically pre-civil war, still really interesting, many of the origional buildings are completely restored, and others were preserved just the way they were when it was acquired in (I think) the '30's or 40's

All high on my list - and I'm hoping you'll be available to show me around Carthage.  But that'll have to wait until next year.

In St Louis last week I picked up "A Tour Guide to Missouri's Civil War" by Gregory Wold, and a DVD "Missouri's Civil War Tour" which I picked up from James Country Mercantile at the NCOWS Convention, both of which should help me find my way around a bit.

I was tellin the guys that "There were probably a lot of people looking forward to having General Scout come out from the East Coast-and what are they gonna get?-Private Isaac from the East Coast!!"  A lot of you might not understand what a great laugh we had!

Windy City Joe

Come and give them HELL Private Isaac.

What would be an approximate round count? Also, is the Expansion Era Match rifle/pistol only, or shotgun too?

How humiliating - it's a different story altogether having to surrender to a Private rather than a General.

Fudge; went to put in for a couple days off, shop is already at 1/2 strength, so I can't make it.

This is great news for me.  The Texas musters didn't work out with my work sched (NO time off, NO MORE than one vac. day at a time, NO holidays, etc.)  The re-deployment to Kansas (and MY NEW JOB!!!) will now possibly make it happen.  Hell, even if I can't make it, my wife may go without me.

I am OPTIMISTICALLY throwing in with this muster this year.  I will get my/her/our registration in when I can verify I can make it.  Looking foward to seeing you all again!!!

@ Pitspitr: The Garnett Inn is a nice little motel/RV spot, very easy access to the range (maybe 2-3 miles).  Penny and I stay there when we go to shoot with KVC.   They do have a little cocktail lounge/bar, but no eats close by (it's actually on the very edge of town - BUT THEY DO HAVE A ROOM WITH A JACUZZI!!!!!!!  Prices aren't bad.

The usual Military Observer from the Dominion of Canada will also be in attendance!

Registration Form has been completed and, together with entry fee, has been delivered into the questionably trustworthy hands of Canada Post.  (If they can manage to get the envelope into the care and custody of the USPS, I know it will be OK from then on ..... )

I thought it was funny - except for the part where I can't attend the Muster!

On the other hand, I'm glad to see that the Corps will be well represented.

I know Ft Scott well.  Used to live in Nevada, MO just 20 miles from Ft Scott and have visited the facility several times.

I actually stayed there in'05. Right now I'm thinking that since I'll only be there 1 1/2 nights I will probably take Col. Drydock up on his offer of hospitality.

Books,  I have heard a nasty rumor that you will be shooting in the Staff Officer class. Is that true? I am thinking quite seriously about doing the same and would appreciate the company. Think I shall procede towards Carnegie Hall.

What else woud the Acting Assistant Adjuatant General (AAAG) shoot.  However, I may be too busy with my duties to shoot.
