(Brevet) LtCol W.C. Joe:

Due to your outstanding dedication to duty, attention to detail, and amazing organizational skills, when circumstances required me to relinquish command of the Division of Kansas, your name immediately came to mind.  It was with the utmost enthusiasm that I submitted your name as my preferred relief to Col. Pitspitr.  I know you can be counted upon to take the Division of Kansas to the field of battle and return in glory.
One note of caution:  I advise you to keep close tabs on those ruffians from Missouri, in particular one extremely unsavory scoundrel from the area of Carthage.  Though a Man of the Cloth, he is a deadly pistol shot, and extra pickets may be needed if he is known to be lurking near.  Calls himself "Little Monty" (or something like that), but may have other aliases.  Rumor has it he may cross over into Kansas to pillage and ravage near the end of October...

I will continue to serve the Division of Kansas to the best of my ability, as far as my circumstances will permit.

Your Obedient Servant,
Guns Garrett (Bvt) Veldkornet, ZAR (Provisional)
Sr. Past Commander, Division of Kansas

I know that ruffian:

When in the barracks at Fort Hartsuff I made sure my bunk was at the other end from him, I didn't want my hair to end up on that shirt of his:
