Stoeger Coach, hammerless double trigger, couple hours of minor adjustments shoots like a charm. WM
WARTHOG, Dirty Rat #600, BOLD #1056, CGCS,GCSAA, NMLRA, NRA, AF&AM, CBBRC.  If all that cowboy has ever seen is a stockdam, he ain't gonna believe ya when ya tell him about whales.

I don't think any of the common ones or 'bad' . When you buy, make sure it is reliable, will fully open and stay that way and is a 12 ga. Other than that it's just what fits you best.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

1)  Cimarron turkish made mule ear coach gun (they haven't imported these for a while)
2)  IAC '87 worked over by Coyote Cap
3)  IAC '97 worked over by Coyote Cap

I like all three for different reasons.

The most practical gun to get is a SxS.  They have less moving parts, so they malfunction a whole lot less than the repeater shotguns.   Give Oklahoma Tom a call at 3 B Shooting Supply and get his advise on what's the best current reproduction available.

Hammered SXS is my style.... I've owned a TTN since 04 it has served me quite well, tough as TANK !
They're now imported by Cimarron , EMF & Taylors (though they may not have any right now  :-\)

now if you looking to get a bit of bang for your buck  ;)
Contact Brian Buck @  3 B Shooting Supply  (Oklahoma Tom) ask him about the  CAI Hammer Double @ $300
2 pards , both on budget, bought one each from him .... not really a bad knock around utility hammered SXS for WAS.

And there is the Wyatt Earp...Made in Gardone for around $975

On the other end, there is the Pioneer Hammered SXS made in Poland about $1300
when planets align...do the deal !

Browning SxS single trigger. Have a Stoger single trigger for back up. Longarm is quite good at slicking them up and he is local. Longarm Gunsmithing  Vicennes IN   Glen Kreilein  cell 812-881-7729  home 812-886-4364   He shot at West Side this month at the NCOWS shoot.

Also the Winchester 97's are good. Burn um up has three for sell or trade. He shoots with us at Green River and should be there this Saturday.  Tj

I love the hammered TTN . I now have a 26 inch model and it's a real sweetheart .

Prior to moving to Working Cowboy, I used a vintage Stevens Model 235 boxlock hammer gun cut to 22" (...or 24" I don't recall).

Why did you drop the side by side for working cowboy?  What did you replace it with and why?

TwoWalks,
Working Cowboy's don't use a shotgun.  So Dave would not have replaced it with anything.

As Yuma said, the Working Cowboy class is a 2-gun format: 1 rifle and 1 revolver. I still have the 235. Built like a tank and a pleasure to shoot -- just don't need it for WC.

Depends on my mood, mostly.  I have a Cimarron 1878 mule ear, a couple of Stoeger Coach Guns, a Cimarron 1887 and a Coyote Cap 1887 IAC, as well as a Cimarron 1897.  All 12 Ga.  When I am really feeling olde timey, I pull out my antique Hopkins & Allen SxS hammered shotguns with 28 inch barrels and some Goex Black Dawge 12 Ga shells.  Cimarron also sells a pretty nice 1881 hammerless SxS in 12 ga, Tru-Choke tubes.  But to be honest, it takes a little work to make it stay open.  Got one of those with 26 inch barrels.

Anyone that needs any cowboy guns OK Tom is a FFL for Cimarron. He will treat you right and can also slick them up. Tj

Lets see....
Stevens 311 SxS (30")
Marlin 19 pump (30" full)
Meteor Eclipse SxS - outside hammers (30" )
IAC 97
IAC 87
Jing SxS - outside hammers (20")

All tuned/tightened and/or rebuilt by yours truly.
Mostly...I use the cheapie SxS (Jing-China) - probably have 4-5 thousand BP rounds through it so far.
