Single Shot Pistol Unmarked Twist Open

Can anyone tell me anything about these pistols? One is a twist open single shot and the other is a six shot revolver without a trigger guard. I purchased these antique guns from an estate sale and can't idendify them. Any information would be appreciated.

The bottom one reminds me of a Velo Dog Revolver but that just off the top of my head.

The top one looks to have been built using a modified bronze birdshead grip revolver frame, possibly from a .22. I would guess a production item, its too finely done to be a home job. I have never seen on like it though.

There are a myriad of unknowns in the handgun world.

Without an actual examination, the upper one looks like a 'Fourth of July' blank-firing pistol - marketed as a noisemaker.

The lower is merely a folding-trigger, vest pocket 'Bulldog' revolver - likely Belgian - with a caliber anywhere from .32 to .380 ('not' the .380ACP, either - but the European loading for a revolver).

No matter what the manufacture - for the most part, makers marked their wares.

Look 'closely' atop the barrel of the upper one - and look for proof markings and a possible maker's name on the side of the lower - use good, strong, natural light - and a sunny day is a great source..

Just discovered this thread. Good grief, those "home made" twist guns are absolutely exquisite! Even without the engraving, and those flats were obviously made for engraving, these guns are spectacular. Thanks for sharing your art!

HI Do you still have that single shot pistol you asked about a few years ago, it has the brass frame and flat breach with twist open action and oversized wood checkered grips? I have one that looks just like it I bought a few years ago at a vegas gun show and I thought it was made from 2 different guns, I am wondering if you sold it and some how I ended up buying it from someone down the line or if there is more then one of these and they are not home made or a one of a kind oddball? if you still have it or sold it let me know as I really want to figure out anything I can about it thx Don
