Scabbard and Holster question. Bridle or Skirting Leather?
I really like the smooth finish of bridle leather but is this incorrect to use for Holsters, Belts and Scabbards?
I do plan on doing some basket weave and other stamping on it but no carving do to my bad vision.

Bridle leather is generally more heavily waxed than skirting - one crafter I know likes the bridle but dips his pieces in Acetone first to remove some of the waxes. Overall I prefer either shoulders or backs, less waste since they have the least amount of belly leather. I keep a side or two around 8/9 oz for extra long belts.

With W & C I get 12-14 oz sides and have them split for a less fuzzy flesh side and for backs (they seldom have shoulders) I just order 8/10 oz.

I use nothing but skirting for holsters for carving, stamping etc. Nicer to work with. KT
