Why are nickel plated guns sometimes referred to as "BBQ Guns?" ???
A work in progress.

St. George

Not nickel-plated, per-se - but engraved and decorated guns with fancy grips and carved holsters, too.

They're the ones folks wear to the 'big' BBQ's in Texas - where everyone shows off their Western finery.

No 'Durango' boots, there - nor U-Roll-Em hats either...

Here is one of my bbq gunz. I would say it was a sunday gun but I shoot it all the time. It is an engraved Taylor with ivory grips. I have a pair.

My bbq/sunday gunz are a  pair of custom nickel plated GW2 with premier ivory grips. here is a pix of the back half...

All America lies at the end of the wilderness road, and our past is not a dead past, but still lives in us. Our forefathers had civilization inside themselves, the wild outside. We live in the civilization they created, but within us the wilderness still lingers. What they dreamed, we live, and what they lived, we dream. -- T.K. Whipple

The Texas Rangers usually have fancy engraved guns that they wear to functions, including BBQ's. I've got an engraved Model 642 in .357 Mag that I wore to functions before I retired. I still have that pistol but I don't carry it anymore. I just carry a plain jane model 23 Glock for CCW.
