Guys, I have been admiring everyone's H.O.G rigs and hope to complete one for myself someday.  I've got an idea in my head for one now.

What I'd like to know is if everyone used the exact same tools as Will has listed on his website (completing this rig)?  I would have to buy around 10 more stamps in order to do this according to his website instructions.

Could you add the stamps you all used?

I do leather work as a hobby, what little I know about holster making I learned from WG pattern packs from Tandy. Here are a few attempts made with his patterns.  Thanks Will!   JW

GW and JW, you've shown us fine examples of Will G inspired work. Thanks for sharing those great pictures

I could make the holsters and still have the patterns, however, I have lost a good part of my vision. Tooling would be out of the question.
I'm looking at purchasing two sets of belts and double holsters in the future if someone would like to contact me and submit your sample work. cowhorsesaddlery@gmail.com

Again, I have lost a good part of my vision. Tooling would be out of the question if this is directed at me.

Okay,

Sinde this is the second time that the Ringo Rig is mentioned,Here is my 'variation'

First it was express cut out for Schofields ... then I added 6" (3" on 'front and backside' of each holster ... to 'lower' the holster)

Then i Made another belt into a shotgun belt with polypro/cotton loops:

My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

So 5 answers to that:

1)  Since the movie came out in 07, and the patterns came out more recently, a lot of people tried to make those holsters from what they saw on the screen.  Some of these attempts are buried in the old threads of this site, I know I have come across them, though whether they were all referred to as HOG, before the pattern came out is another mater.  Might require a few different search terms, like "Crowe", etc...

2) The pattern as laid out in the instructable on Will's site gives the tools Will actually used which include some old tools.

3)  However the Instructable, or the patterns give modern alternative tools.  So there are options even in the plans, and obviously some of the tools are generic.

4)  Will's pattern is a masterpiece with a lot of "layers"  The photo below shows one of mine that is not even half way done, it already has a lot of character without a lot of the tools being used.  Compared to a lot of "tooled" holsters that may include only border tooling or the first impressions of a leaf pattern, or whatever, Will's has a lot of components that you can decide how deep you want to go into .

5)  The first version I made of this holster I copied the pattern from his site (bought it later when it became available), and did it on a 1911 training holster (later put the finished design under something to flatten it, and it has yet to show up.  :)).  Anyway, as an example, I did all the background stuff with some of the Tandy matting tools, and it looked good, though certainly different.
