I'll give it a watch.  I skimmed the article but there is a Carradine in it too.  Looks like HOW has spawned some competition, a good thing in my opinion.

Keith Carradine will star in Gateway. I thought he did excellent as Hickok on HBO's Deadwood.

I still cringe...when I hear Ken Willis (Prop master) spout the Griswold & Gunnison was made in 100,000 numbers before the plant was blown up.
He states it was the Magnum of the 1880's and shows a Replica Brass Brame 1860 pattern Army.

Really ?

a 36 Cal. pistol made in Griswoldville Ga. in number closer to 3500 ( before the "plant" factory was destroyed by Sherman's
March) ... was the Magnum in 1880's

He does not know what he is talking about !  or he thinks everybody else viewing his Video is as unknowledgeable as he is.

this is a Griswold & Gunnison

and still another ........ and the one from my collection.

So, I did watch the "Guns of" video.  Not only was he wrong about the "Griswold", first he shows a brass frame 1860 44 and calls it a Griswold, then he holds up what appears to be either a badly executed Walker or a first model Dragoon and says the Griswold is "big and heavy and packs quite a wallop".  Where is Peter Sherayko when a film project needs him? ::)

I am a Dish subscriber and they have discontinued offeriing  AMC on the channel lineup.  I could care less about the series on AMC like Hell on Wheels, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men.  I miss the "Rifleman" on Sat. mornings.

I couldn't have Saturday morning without Rifelman.  It's become a custom in our house.  No John Wayne movie to follow as usual today for some reason.  I feel yer loss Tex.

While I'm looking forward to H.O.W. starting back up for season 2, I was not overly impressed with the show.  It certainly is MUCH better than 75% of the regular line-up of (UN) real or "reality" shows - which are a far cry from any reality I've experienced.  I'm tired of dancing with ANYBODY except my Missus; I wouldn't consider "keeping up with the Kardashian" spoiled brats, or even Gene or Ozzie.

Watching most of that junk certainly can make a thinking person understand why so much of the rest of the world thinks America & Americans in general are fat, lazy, spoiled, and un-ed-u-ma-kay-ted.

I have high hopes that season 2 will have some better writing and that their armorers actually do at least a tiny bit of research before they grandly proclaim that the gun shown, a "fantasy" brass-frame 1860 44 Army, is the legendary Griswold (what happened to Gunnison anyway?) the "Magnum of the Day!"

Or not ...

Leo, I found a website that is selling the complete DVD set of the "Rifleman". It is on my list of DVDs to purchase.

I wanna know what happened ta Gateway.  Seems to have fell off the face of the earth unless someone can correct me.

Good episodes of Rifleman taday Tex.  I'm sure you've seen em all but they is fun ta watch again.  Showed the one taday where Mark gets typhoid and hallucinates seein his passed mother.  Pretty strange to see a Twilight Zone episode of Chuck's show.

Have ta look inta Longmire, this is the first I heard of it.

Leo, I have always been a "Rifleman" fan. I didn't know for a long time how old Johnny Crawford is, he's almost a year old than me and that's purdy old. He made a movie called "Indian Paint" in 65 that was filmed in Grand Prairie. My wife got to meet him when his plane landed at the Amon Carter Airport, which was near what is now D/FW airport. She got present him a bouquet of flowers.

I been lucky enought to catch Longmire a few times in reruns on Sunday Mornings.

Sunday @ 10-11 PM is a bit late ...when I have an early Monday workday looming every week.

I have been watching Falling Skies  ( 9:PM Sunday on TBS)

I have enjoyed Longmire.  Almost lost me on the episode with the Sharps rifle, but if I can get past brass framed whatchmacallits, I can get past that mistake.   I have not read the books, but may look for them.   Last night's episode had my "cousin" Peter Weller, he directed it as well.  We share the same last name and he was Buckaroo Bonzai, so big fan.
I figure any western on TV is a good thing, revisionist or not.   I hope it brings in younger crowds to see what we are doing and we can grow as an organization by educating the newbies that Griswolds were not brass frame 60s, but the family in Vacation.   Enjoy Hell on Wheels.

Saw Longwire yesterday morning, not at all what I expected.

Was that a good thing or a bad thing?
A work in progress.

Still not sure, I suppose I could get used to it.
