I heard alot about this a few years back. Dont seem to hear much about this recently. Does anyone still do this? If so, does it seem to work well?

It's not like it used to be, but it'll do.

Marauder

I've read about his work and everyone says it is great.

At Mulecamp, I got a chance to try a rifle he did and it was very nice.  It was the best Marlin I've shot.

I don't know but I heard they become very sinsitive to C.O.L. when ya short stroke a Marlin.  Is that right?

Poor boy Marlin shortstroke. One piece of automotive wire loom cut to length, wrap over with piece of deer skin, stitch at bottom on one end and slice the excess to make fringe. Felt stroke now approx 1/2" less than standard.
Well, I don't mind if folks can get their Marlin stroked, but for me, it was the logical choice. If you can afford the mods, by all means go for them. I thank Doc Shapiro for showing me a better way to rack my lever and it more or less included just anchoring my thumb and flicking with fingers. Your rifle would need a basic action job to do that however.  It improved my times due to not having the  rifle moving around and held steady. However, I have shot Doc Shapiro's Codymatic 73 and if I could afford one like that, I could see my times improving a lot, but that is another story.
