How do you display your craft in the home. Or do you?

My wife and I are converting a small bedroom as part of empty-nest syndrome into a hobby room #2, to include our antique and vintage sewing machines, quilting stuff, some of my leather crafting tools, and my leather creations. I'm interested in seeing how others display their craft results (particularly holsters) in a decorative fashion. I am thinking a pegboard that lets me change arrangements would be nice, but I'd not want to be too clinical. Any pictures or suggestions folks? As always, I thank you all so much in advance. Don

To each his own but I have a full size room for my items. Firist I covered all my walls with elk hides. On top of the elk hidesI put in different deer hides, axis, angora, wolf and fox. The window is covered 12 in. fringed leather. I pushed out one wall and arched the ceilin I put a wroth iron bed in it. I covered it with 14 in fringed leather. I left the wroth showing and hang my pouches and saddle bags. Some of my gun belts are on also.On each poster I hang a hat. I put in strip lighting. I put up around 50 sets of antlers the hang gun rigs and rifles from. I made different pieces of furniture and covered it with Texas brindle. Tables are covered with axis and i cut tree slabs with ant holes in them There about 15 to 20 inches wide and 25 to 30 long. I screw them onto the 4 corners of my table to make it larger andit gives a GREAT decor. All the furniture has 4 gun rigs on it. I have done many other things to display my knives and sheaths and clothing. There is hardly 1 square inch not covered. I have started in my garage now. Have about 25 rigs hanging there. Johnny McCrae has seen my room and can tell you you can hardly turn around.KT

Howdy Tallbald,

There are many ways to display your Leather goods and other collectibles. Sometimes a visit to a museum will give you ideas. I'm sure the Pards on this Forum will give you lots of great ideas.

I've visited with Kid Terrico several times and it is always a pleasure to view his collection. He has developed a unique way to display his collectibles using leather, wood, animal horns etc. One could spend hours browsing through his fine "Museum quality" collection.

For my small collection of Leather goods I currently use a book case. As my collection grows I may buy some cabinets with glass doors or possibly try a peg-board setup. If I use peg-board, I may try to put some type of an antique finish on it.

Please send us pictures as your display progresses.

TallbaldI agree with Johnny. What I meant by to each his own is you have to work with the space you have and the items you have.Every one will like to display their items different. There is no right or wrong, only what you like. Mine is 100% different than when I started. KT

KT and Johnny have good displays. Like they said, it's all up to how you want to show your work. At the other end of the scale, I'm a little spartan in displaying mine. It depends on the room you have and what you want to show. Here's a photo of the wall behind my desk. Not much there but what there is really shows.

Thanks everyone. Beautiful displays. What I've decided is that I will use some rough cut thin boards from some salvaged pre-made wood fence panels my wife and I pulled out of someone else's trash. I plan to assemble a 3-D wall-mounted section of horizontal plank "fence" for which I can make wire hangers to hang my holsters. I will be able to slide the hangers along the "fence" to change arrangements, and try to find a little section of old fence wire too to add visual interest. So many projects. So little time! Don

Howdy Tallbald,

That sounds like a great way to display Holsters. I like the idea of having the display adjustable. I'm looking forward to seeing your display when it is finished.

Sounds great!
Mine are just chucked into a box or hanging on my gun cart until I need them. I wish I had a way to display them like you gents do, but portable so that it would be able to be set up at gun shows too...
I have an old sea chest type wooden box I keep the early leather in.. under lock and key.

I'd like to display mine, but, with three small boys, my grandsons, that love to get into things, so, it all stays put up. Of course, there is Walker Colt holster that is, well, let's just say it isn't exacly PC. LOL
