We ain't the first ones to try real black in 1911, and certainly ain't gonna be the last.

Doesn't work that well in my 1911...but mine is setup for hardball loads. I could change the spring & make it work...but, would have to ask myself why?  Especially for a Wild Bunch match (which we ocassionally have at my local club).

I'm one of the more historically-accurate types who nearly bleeds BP & I shoot either C&B or BP Duelist at matches....except for Wild Bunch, when I use historically correct smokeless propellants in my firearms.

I guess it can be done, but I don`t see the point in creating a class for competition.

I think it would be fun. Allready tried it in my Norinco with "standard" Wolff springs.

Works for me.

And that is the best photo of a 1911 running on black that I've come across.   ;D

I have reports that the DD/PUK/ROA-II feeds, fires and functions flawlessly in 1911s.  So, if any of you Wild Bunch guys want a bullet that works well in both your 1911s and your rifles, give that one a try.  It was originally designed for the ROAs but it turns out to be very good in Colt 1911s with black powder.

Kewl!!

I heard 4F is good for 9mm to!!

But how is the recoil?  Looks like it has quite a snap to it.

Blackpowder Burn

I've run 100 rounds through my unmodified Springfield GI with no malfunctions.  I shoot 16.5 gr Goex 3Fg and the 200 grain DD/PUK/ROAII from DD.  I just might have to try the 4Fg though - looks interesting.

Cool 8) We had a shooter last month shoot FCWB, he had fun. One thing Lone Dog noted on the same video posted on the SASS wire is the feller reholstered his 1911, which is not allowed. There should have been a table or prop to restaged the 1911.
WB Shooter Handbook page 6
RANGE OPERATIONS
• The 1911 must be restaged safely at the end of each shooting string with the slide locked open, unless the 1911 is the last firearm used. It may contain an empty magazine or no magazine when restaged. (Failure to comply, SDQ.

WB Shooter Handbook page 17
9. • Safe for re-holstering. Slide closed and hammer down on an empty chamber with no magazine. Only after RO Inspection at firing line
WB Match Director's Guide page 7
Remember you MUST provide a safe staging prop at EVERY location where the 1911 may be fired. Even if the sequence is not split and the pistol isn't required to be re-staged, a malfunction may occur and The pistol CANNOT be re-holstered until the stage is completed and it is checked clear by a stage official.

Never owned a semi handgun let alone a 1911.  No intent to buy them and no desire to shoot Wild Bunch with any type of powder.  Because I just don't have the desire or want to

@ johnboy: why bother to react.

@cemetery: recoil is not to bad, the wolff springs were installed after this video. The original springs were really tired. I've shot the 250 PRS with 15 grains 4 F without problems too. Only thing with that bullet is that it seats deep and you have to have the right brass otherwise it bulges.

I use the Lyman 454190 260 grain bullet, has a nice point on it and feeds very well. . Run a stock 1916 Colt 1911. Recoil is not that bad as you can only fit about 16 grains of ffg in the case.
