GAF Color Guard at NCOWS Nationals

Howdy Pards,

Will there be a Color Guard needed for the National Tournament?  I believe there has been in the past.  This will be my first trip up.

There has benn for quite a few years.  Steel Horse Baily and I have been regulars and Dusty Tagalon has been in most.  We can always use more members!

GAF = Grand Army of the Frontier.

This is a shooting organization which focuses on historic military reenactment, mostly from the 1850's to the early 1900's.

Many NCOWS members are involved in GAF.   http://www.grandarmyofthefrontier.org/

GAF members often dress in military regalia and post the colors prior to National and Regional NCOWS events.  Sometimes cannon fire is involved.

Many moons ago, I was a fair hand with a trumpet & could replicate some bugle calls that I''d heard....If someone had an idea of an appropriate trumpet/bugle call might be integrated with the color guard, I could work on it for next year (providing I don't stink too badly).

And to think I missed my chance to audition for the Kentucky derby, well, that is a long drive for a 1 minute gig.

BTW, I taught myself basic guitar this spring and am looking for some period sheet music / tunes to work on. I figure when I'm too old, broke down & a poor shot I can still sit around and twang out some tunes. Better get started on learning while I still can
