Speed Loaders

While watching a couple cap and ball videos on You Tube, I saw a speed loader that was interesting. It was clear acrylic with six tubes that hold individual powder charges. One turn of a knob and it releases up to six premeasured charges into a cylinder. It is very similiar to the HKS speed loaders in way it works. Has anyone seen this or used one?

I have to wonder how fast it would be on stage two and beyond at a match?

I'm not looking into speedloading during matches. I'm learning, and when I saw the video I thought it would be more convienient during practice sessions. I still intend to buy a loading press and a separate stand so I will be equiped to load my cylinders both on and off the revolver. Note  my 1851 Navies (Confederate), each came with a spare clyinder.
If it isn't against any forum rules I could post the video I saw.

Thanks for posting this thread.

This could be a useful device in some places.  I wasn't trying to be critical and my mind was stuck in SASS main match thinking.

Here's the link:

At the 6:25 mark in the video, he sets up and uses a clear acrylic loader to drop charges into all chambers of the cylinder. I thought this my be a good way to load cylinders for a practice session.

WOW!!!  That is very slick!! Never seen that device before.  :o  Then again, it's a French video I believe. Note the BP bottle label.

I would like to have some of those speed loaders. I think they would speed up things  in the reloading process

Was it something like this?  http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_100_353&products_id=7829

What you have linked is a Paterson loader & in the video it's different & plastic.

Update: Paladin UK is correct. It is marketed in France. I have contacted the French Gentileman that posted the video. The Franconia web site is in French. I clicked the contact link and sent Franconia an English E-Mail asking for models, shipping, and price information pertaining a purchase to the USA.

What did he say? I contacted him as well, albeit in French using a translator. He sent me a conflicting reply saying that it was NOT available for export, then said to have it shipped to the U.S. I need to use his website(?).  ???  Too much red wine?  :o ;)

QuoteBonjour

Malheureusement nous faisons pas de vente à l'export.

Pour la vente aux états unis veuillez vous adresser à: www.frankonia.fr

I haven't received a reply from Franconia yet. However, if anyone could get a French friend that could decipher the web site, my first concern would be what models are available.
It appears to be a useful device and I can't believe they aren't widely available. Just compare to how may HKS speedloaders are out in the market place.

As Dick Dastardly implied, it looks fast because the loader is already loaded.  You still have to load the speed loader each time and then load the cylinder.  I think the bigger overall speed and convenience improvement comes from loading the cylinder out of the gun.

Hey guys how about this. They appear to be about $25 each US $. What about a group order from someone who is a dealer on this site. I would take 5 of them and send the $ to the guy who is ordering them. When they come in send the shipping and whatever overhead he has and we got them.
