Pards, I'm sure this has been asked before - but what's the best way to prevent the toe flaring out as the sewing line reaches it?

Marshal Will Wingam

I cut the folded side up slightly more than I would otherwise so the fold isn't as pronounced. Even at that it flares slightly but it isn't as noticeable. I also push the tip in slightly when I wet mold it to reduce the flare.

Cheer up things could be worse, sure enough I cheered up and they got worse.

Will - thanks much for the advice and photo - another one of those "priceless tidbits" I'm going to post in my leather notes!  The holster is beautiful by the way!  Thanks for some advice on something I'm sure has caused a lot of frustration for many of us!   :)

Those holsters were made for a pair of 4 3/4" SAA's. The pistols were replaced with a pair of 5 1/2" ones. All I did was open the toes and put a stitch back in the holes without pulling the sides together. With a slight wet molding, the holsters fit the new pistols and looked like they were made for them, still keeping the closed toe look.
