A work in progress.

Hmmm... Stainless slide and stainless frame?  Hope they've got the surface hardness right and/or some plating or different stainless alloy on one or the other.  Stainless-on-stainless has been known to gall on sliding surface contacts. But, being Ruger, I expect they will have solved the problem.

Not sure if i like the flat mainspring housing, nor the extended grip safety beaver tail.  But that's just me. You milleage may vary.
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

That was solved years ago by using different stainless steels or heat treating the frame & slide differently.  ;)

Bill Ruger designed some very innovative guns.  He had a flair, also, for aesthetic design and built some very modern guns that looked very traditional.  He wasn't John Browning, but he certainly was way up, near the top of the list of gun designers.

Now, sadly, he's gone.

We're left with a company that builds clones of popular designs in an effort to appease stock holders with enhanced sales.

All I want from Roooooger is a damned 38-40 single action revolver.

The new 1911, or what ever they're calling it, can't be used in wild bunch because it looks like something that Darth Vader might have carried.

Wouldn't you try to keep the customers you have if you were running a company ????

Unfortunately, if Ruger relied on the sales of .38-40 single actions they would sell around 12 and then be out of business.  I think Ruger has a much better grasp of the market than a couple of crusty old cowboy shooters.

That's really amazing unless that cover was printed on April 1. If it's on the level and remembering how long it took Ruger to produce the now gone Ruger Gold Label, I wonder if we'll see one before the end of 1911. By the way, what is that logo on the side of the slide. Almost looks like Springfield Armory logo, not Ruger.

Ditto. I had not owned a Ruger since I was a kid (Single Six) but since 'ol man Ruger died I have bought four Rugers in less than two years: two .44 Specials, an LCR & an LC9. LOVE them all! Kudos to the new Ruger listening to their customers as their fantastic sales have proven!!  :)

I'm hoping they build a "GI" type model that'd work for Wild Bunch matches!

Hey!  I think I've found what model we're going to order for our "2011 Afghanistan Deployment Pistols" now!!!
The guys in our unit were wanting to order stainless Rock Island or Springfield 1911A1's and getting them laser engraved.

But I'm gonna push for the Rugers!  Especially since I'm the feller who'll be ordering them.

Oh boy, a 1911 clone!

Hell, you almost never hear of one of those, and I've never seen one.   ::)

Marshal,  That was a really great video you and Michael Bane put together.  From those of us who love 1911s and love Rugers, it was very helpful.  I called my favorite gun store this morning and asked about it.  They had not even heard of it yet, so you guys are on the cutting edge!   Thank you.

Deadeye Don,

It was all brand new info for both distributors and dealers on Monday and it will take a few days before they are all informed. Ruger is stocking up big time right now and they start shipping in early May. The gun has been in production since back in November and their policy is to have a few thousand guns at the loading gate before they spread them out.

And one of those will be mine!
My local dealer ordered a couple dozen Monday morning - she is selling them for $599.00.

Not bad but I'll keep my Springfield 1911s instead. I'm still a bit P'Od at Ruger for supporting and helping with the idea that no semi-auto mag needs to hold more than 10 rounds. He gave support to Bill Clinton and HCI during the 90s and I don't know if I can forgive him much for that.

I do own a Ruger Mini-14, a Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag and an old Ruger Security Six in .357, but they were all bought before his sell out to the anti-gun crowd. His sellout put a sour taste in my mouth for his products. Guess I hold a grudge.

Rick, I'm Irish and I like a guy, who can really hold a grudge but I don't let one get in the way of my having a good time, so I've bought a bunch or Rugers since then.

To each their own I say. But I'll just go to the competition and buy something as good or better and boycott those who side against my Constitutional rights. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth to give my hard earned money to a company who makes a product that they want me to buy, and then side with any group that is working hard to limit or take away my right to own or buy that product.

But that's just me being ignorant I guess.

Admire your stance, Rick. No argument from me.
