Well the time is near.

To the GAF powers that be, I respectfully request transfer or detachment from the Department of the Missouri to the Departemnt of the Platte.

I will be moving to Safford Arizona in around April 20th.  I plan to be out there with the family for Easter.  My wife , Jules, has been out there is her new job as a small animal vet since November first and my daughter , Josie, has been there since January.
Our house In Nebraska has not sold yet so I will be squeezing in with them in the small duplex.  I will be transferring with Wal-Mart to the store there as a TLE tech the same as hear in Columbus.  I am looking forward to the fresh start and Jules tells me the desert and mountains of eastern Arizona are beautiful.  From the two brief trips out there, I agree.
I plan to get back to Nebraska when I can to visit family and friends, for gun shows and cowboy action shoots.  I also hope to join in some of the CAS events there.

Cell phones are the same for now and we all have new e-mail accounts  that will replace the old forntiernet.net account which will be closed when I move.

I plan on taking wife and daughter to end of trail to "spectate"  this year.  Get a chance to see all that SASS is.

I'll be about an hour and a half from Tombstone and Tuscon.  Depending on work schedule I hope to make at least one shoot a month.

Welcome to the Dept of the Platte.  My apologies for the lateness of the sentiment, I must have been "dozing" when the announcement was posted.  Arizona is a hotbed of SASS matches - you can find them every weekend of the month and a whole lot of good people involved.  If you can get to the southeast Phoenix area, Rio Salado is an excellent bunch.

Maybe moving somewhat near myself.
Looked at house in Pima but put an offer in Hereford (a little closer to Tombstone).

I am going to try to shoot down at Tombstone on July 3rd.  Maybe I'll see you there.
I'm tryinhg to find more GAF members in this little corner of AZ.  Safford has a city owned range but no competitions whatsoever, just an informal trap group.  Might be a place for a GAF dedicated CAS shooting club.   :-\

Mr. Haymaker,

welcome to our little square of heaven!  If you could set up a GAF club in your area, or if we could somewhere maybe even in Phoenix, it'd be worth the drive for me from Flagstaff.  I think SASS is awesome for what it is.  Winter Range and such is great fun, but I like the more historical side too.  It'd be great to finally go to a GAF or even an NCOWS event, especially a multi-day type deal.

It'd be nice to meet everyone in the area that's more into the spirit rather than the game so to speak.  Everyone I've met up here in the northern region basically shunned me and my friends.  Probably because of our age, nevermind I'm a retired USCG vet and going to be a park ranger and my partner in it works for BLM as a game warden...  So now we just shoot, the two of us, up here in the woods.

Bowview,
It sounds like you've got some pretty good potential recruits already!  Outstanding!

its too bad that flagstaff is about a full days drive from where i am.  i'm a good 3 hour drive east of phoenix and at least 2 hours from where they shoot at Tombstone.

O hope more GAF members from this area check in hear.  maybe we can work with one of the established clubs.

Willie Dixon is about 3 hours north of Phoenix and Bow View Haymaker is about 3 hours East of said Phoenix.  So folks who is shooting in the Phoenix area - Looks like the beginning of something.
When guns are banned, fear the man with a hammer

Willie Dixon

That's what I was saying myself.  I'm about 400 miles away from Haymaker, seeing on googlemaps.  I'm right at the 17/40 junction literally.  That and phoenix is phoenix, right in the middle, good highways abound.  there's a reason why that's where winter range is every year, plus they have the Ben Avery shooting complex 20miles north of town.

But, if there was ever a chance for an actual meet, once a month.  I'd be more than happy to make the drive.  My car only uses about 4 gallons to get to Apache Junction from Flag.  Little over half there and back.  I'm sure going down to where Haymaker is wouldn't be a problem.  I enjoy driving and I put about 100 miles a week on my car average anyways.  My favorite gun store is in prescott, leather shop in Jerome, hat shop in Cottonwood.  So what's a little farther? ;D

Count me as reporting in ready and able.
