It's my 1982 vintage Santa Fe Arms/Uberti '73 rifle.  The rifle was a Christmas gift from my wife, too.  The left side plate is engraved with an inscription: to Tom from Shawna Christmas 1982.

Alas and alack.  You poor mortals don't have what I have.

My stock came today and it's much better than the picture.  It's even better than the picture I had in my mind.

Russ N. Hound does amazing work.

I'm gonna take it in and lay on the couch and hold it and have a giggling fit.

;D :o

Tha's purty nice; the Phoenix is one of my favorite symbols.  Your bride has good taste; even if she does keep company with the likes of some guy called Forty Rod. :o ;D

The only bad Phoenix I ever had any dealing with was a '78 Pontiac Phoenix that should have been melted down before it ever left the assembly line.

Phoenix/Firebird is a great symbol.  I particularly like this one.

Hmph!  Most stuff, with a few exceptions, made by General Motors in the '70's should have been left in the smelting pot; same thing for the other two, too.  JMO.

I had a Formula 400, a '70 1/2, that was just plain amazing once I got decent tires on it.  Over 170 mph through the traps.  My wife drove a '75 Grand Prix that was dang near as good.

Had a '77 Dodge Aspen that was the WORST POS I ever drove.

Been driving Fords, Mercs, Toyotas, and Mazdas ever since the Phoenix and have few complaints.

Uncle Eph

a lot of what GM made in the 70s was junk, but I got one of the good ones: 1973 chevy 4x4 heavy-half, with all the bells and whistles you could get back then, it has been up and down the Al-Can 17 times hauled everything from firewood to halfdrowned river rafters, body is a little rough but the running gear is prime, it will climb a tree or run down the freeway at 70 all day long and it has never had any major repairs. just drove her to town for parts and the AC blew nice and cold.
