Skeet, I just strop the polished side, on my rouge filled stropping board, and use different sized cotton twine or string, loaded up with jewelers rouge, and put the twine in the opening and drag my edge bevelor backwards at the appropriate angle, this keeps my bevelors sharp and ready to use.

I've used fine sandpaper wrapped around whatever seems to be the right size.

Fortunately they seem to stay sharp a long time.

Some brands and styles have square rather than round cutting surfaces and are a little bit easier to sharpen.

I haven't found much online on this subject. If anyone fines a good online tutorial, I sure would like to read it.

You had me curious so I "surfed" a bit.

Rumor has it that "Leathercraft Tools by Al Stohlman" has a chapter on doing just this.

I found several on ebay and one is now on it's way to me.  I'll report back when it arrives.

Also, I found this a few seconds ago... looks easy:

Yes, There is a section on sharpening bevelers in "Leathercraft Tools by Al Stohlman"
One of my favorite books on working leather.
I recommend it to all. Ti tells how to sharpen and how to use many tools.

Weaver Leather sells a nice one and it is simple enough to make copys from.  They cut shallow grooves in several thicknesses along the length of a board and just set in small leather straps in weights to match the grooves width.  Voila, a really neat and quick stropping board with a cut determined by your polishing compound.  I was going to try and link to a picture but my Weaver link seems to be invalid!!!
