I'd like to buy another 1875 remmie replica.

I found the contemporary builds plenty decent, but I was wondering if there are any versions maybe from the early 70's that do not have the hammer block safety.

Many thanks.

Sack, your inquiry got me to wonderin' so I went diggin in the safe and this is what I found.

Remington 1875         Ser #      Date Code    Year     Hammer block

Uberti/ Replica Arms     0222         XX8           1972        yes
Uberti/Navy Arms       06669          AB           1976         yes
Uberti/EMF                08694                                         yes

Remington 1890

Uberti/EMF                  14503                                         yes

Interestingly I could not find a date code on either of the EMF guns, and the proof marks were in a different location from the earlier guns. Now I may find them by tearing the guns down a mite, but on surface exam could not. The only replica of the '75 that I know for sure did not have the hammer block has been the Hartford Armory. Sorry I can't be more help. Perhaps some of the other pards may have something earlier than '72. Also the '72 gun from Replica does NOT have the cross-pin but the original method of securing the cylinder pin.

Thank you for doing that.

I think that answers that.  I just did my study up on them in the last few days... I don't think they made them any earlier than '72.  The Uberti pattern Remmies that is...

Sack , I think you're right in that '72 appears to be their first year, at least with a number as low as 222 you would think so. Check out the SCORRS website and look at the photo gallery, towards the bottom Long Johns Wolf has two pictures , a before and an after some restoration work, of his ser #73 from 1972. A thing of beauty to be sure.
