Pedersoli.  Nice reproduction, but the internals are not like a Colt.  Pedersolis are the most likely of the clones to work out of the box.

If you want a Lightnening clone you can always count on look at an AWA, American Western Arms in Florida.

They work.

Have two (they are the "old" AWA not the current ownership) they have never worked.

I don't know when the current ownership took over.  My rifle is just over three years old.  It has never had a mechanical problem.  In fact, the only problem I have ever had with it is with the bullet feeding.  If you use a bullet with not much of a radius on the nose they will hang up now and then. A semi-wadcutter will just not work.

I usually shoot black powder and I would love to use the Lightning but it is so hard to clean. I do shoot it a couple of times a month with smokeless in shooting season and have never had a problem (other than the feeding) with it.  It will shoot faster than I can work it and it has never had any "slick up" work done to it.

Lucky,

I use round nose flat point lead fer all my loads. Aint had a problem so far  ;D
I also found out that ya need to use a 250 grain bullet, otherwise you'll git alotta ash (blow back) in yer face. :o
So far keepin ta them specifacations have worked GREAT!!!!  ;) ;D

Thanks for your comment Lightning Buck.

I now use DD's 250 grain Big Lube bullet in both my Lightning and '73 Uberti with very good results.  The rifles are both 45 Colt and the heavier bullet just works better.
