I took a few pics this morning and the ones showing the carbine full length did not come out but a few of the closer ones did so here they are. I'm going to call today and try and get some details on it like rate of twist, best bullet weights and such.

Congrats!
What flavor/brand is it? New or used? Calibre? Etc., etc., etc., we all like to read about a new-to-you Sharps and how you plan on using it, competition or just hunting, lots of info and sugestions will come pouring in.
Best regards and good Shooting!

Thanks OlGabe, It's a Shiloh Sharps with a 22" barrel, I bought it used, although it hasn't been fired, it's like brand spakin new. I found it in a gun shop, it belonged to an employee of the shop who passed away and they were selling a few of his guns for his wife. the barrel is marked 50 1 3/4. I was going to call Shiloh soon and see if they could fill me in on the details.

50 1 3/4 is the .50-70 Goverment round.  Excellent in a carbine!  .515 450 grain bullet over 70 grains FFG.  Probably a 1-36 twist if I remember rightly.

I'd wager it's a 1 in 22" ROT. Why? It looks like a Shiloh made after the Bryan family took over. A quick way to tell is if there is a letter "B" in the serial #. Shiloh will not make a 1 in 36" ROT unless the customer ordering a new one specifies. The 1 in 22" ROT does not shoot the 450 gr. Gov't bullets worth a damn IMO. A person has to shoot the larger 500 gr + bullets to stabilize and they are gonna rock your molars in a carbine.  :o  I have two 50-70 carbines and the 450 gr. is all I want as it punches you hard.

What's the waiting time on a new Sharps now?  A friend of mine ordered a 45-70 shortly after Quigley Down Under was in the theaters, and he had to wait 2 years to take delivery.

You're going to enjoy your carbine! I've got a Shiloh Military Rifle in 50-70 with the 1x36" twist for the 450 Gov't bullet. I ordered a carbine in 50-70 with the faster twist and I'm thinking now I made a mistake ..... I did so as I was given a new NEI 540 gr .50 calibre bullet mould I wanted to use. The 1x36" twist wouldn't stabilize it and I do remember the rifle stepping smartly to the rear!
I returned the carbine to the shop the week I got it as it came with a too long length of pull for me. When the Bryant family took over, they went to a longer LOP (13-3/4") than the historic one. I spoke to them and it has been shortened by 1/2". I'm waiting on it's return along with a couple of Farmingdale locks I sent them for work.

I was hoping that the faster twist would stabilize the 450 gr bullet, but according to Fox Creek Kid, I'm in for disappointment.
Maybe I should put it up for sale before they ship it back to me .... ;>)

The 50-70 has become my preferred calibre for hunting. So far I've taken two 400+lb bears with it and a four point Mule Deer. On a walk with my wife last fall, I took the heads off four grouse with it as well. 450 grs of lead and 65 grs FFg may be a bit excessive for grouse, but it worked just fine! Hope to drop a moose with it this fall, if I get a draw.

Madnumdood,
Since the Shiloh folks all make each rifle by hand and almost all are custom orders, it does take time and a year or longer depending on what specifics are requested in the original order. However, they also make several standard and adhanced rifles that are sold in-store and are on-hand so you might just contact them to see what is on the shelf and ready-to-go.
Another option is to contact William Goodman who buys from them and resells, he may have just what you want!
Shiloh's contact info: Shiloh Sharps Rifle Company, P.O. Box 279, Big Timber, MT 59011 406-932-4454 www.SHILOHRIFLE.COM
Kirk or Lucinda will steer you in the right direction, they are among the 'Best in the West'!
Goodman's contact info: William Goodman, P.O. Box 3269, Bozeman, MT 59772 406-587-3131 www.goodmanguns.com
Whoever you jaw with and place and order with be sure to get good sights, MVA, Hoke, Baldwin, etc., as the rifle is just a rifle without good sights.
For anyone looking for a good used or in some cases NIB but needs to be sold Shiloh, check out the classified forum thread on www.bpcr.net as they frequently have just what you may desire.
Best regards and good shopping!
P.S. I have no affiliation with any of the above, just trust them as a good source and business.

I talked with them yesterday, they had about 1/2 dozen 45-70's on the rack looking for a good home.
