Does anyone out there have 10-15 pieces of 50-70 brass they would sell or trade.  I have a new Shiloh and no ammo.  I ordered 100 from Midway and 50 from Buffalo arms several months ago but both are back ordered and not expected to arrive until the end of May or early Jun.  I will either buy outright or send you the same number of new brass when mine finally arrive.  PM me if any of you can help.

Thanks,

Maybe you could contact Jamison http://www.jamisoninternational.com/ and get a few of the 50-90's and trim those down to fit.

Have you checked with Dixie Gun Works?  Their new catalog says they again have it available.  I'm still using the Dixie .50-70 brass I bought from them 25 years ago - good stuff.

Dixie had some in stock.  It is priced about twice the cost at Buffalo Arms and Midway, but Dixie had them.  I order enough to make her go bang.  Thanks for all the help.

Howdy,
I have about 20 rnds of 50-70 that you can have but it was fired in a gun with about a .065 in oversized chamber and
at the mouth the brass is about .035 oversize.  I can size the mouth down to where it will go into the 50-70 die for
you but you will have to do some serious resizing of the rest of the case.

Colt, I should have 20 rounds coming from Dixie this week.  I suppose the Rock Chucker has enough leverage to resize those cases.  Are you coming to shoot Sat 12 Mar?  If you are bring them along.

Don't know if the new DGW brass is the same wall thickness and temper as the stuff I bought probably 30-35 years ago, but I size my old brass in an RCBS Model B, Jr., press with no trouble. (You should lube the outside of the cases.)  If the ol' Model B can do it, that Rock Chucker shouldn't even strain!

I got some from Dixie.  The Rockchucker did right well.  I also got about 50 rounds of Starline as well.  The Sharps shoots pretty good, I just can get out with it often enough.

FWIW, I shoot several 50-70's and I would HIGHLY recommend annealing the case necks before shooting. Better accuracy & they will crimp & seal much better as well.  ;)
