There are a few tool marks visible in the forcing cone of a new Taylor's Uberti-made Remington 44-40 conversion I have.
I don't have a forcing cone cutting kit, but I do have a Lewis Lead Remover kit from Brownell's.

Anyone got a suggestion as to how I could employ this to do a little polishing of the forcing cone?

You might as well try to polish Mt. Rushmore with a Chore Boy, i.e., wasting your time. You NEED to have the forcing cone cut.  ;)  Find a gunsmith in your area that does it as with a solid frame gun you will have to do expensive overnight shipping as the barrel is integral with the frame.

Have you shot it?  If it shoots OK don't sweat some minor tool marks.

Yep, I have shot the gun. Shoots just fine with the one load it's been fed so far. In cleaning it, I noticed the very beginnings of a build up and a few tool marks in the forcing cone.
I have a pal with the Brownell's forcing cone cutting kit but he's out of town for the while. When he gets back, I'll give it a whirl.
We get into all kinds of legal hogwash sending 'restricted firearms' thru' the mail and qualified pistolsmiths are scarce in our bailiwick.
In the meantime: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Best advice this cowboy ever got regarding anything.
