Gentlemen: I hope you enjoy these pix of my project rifle. I bought a Chaparrel to see what I could do with it. At present its a 45-75 pistol gripped, rifle butt, full magazine rifle. I'm still tinkering with the idea of a button mag but don't care for the milled out area in the bottom of the barrel. Things never even been shot yet..discusting huh

Do what I did and make it half round, thus eliminating the magazine groove under the barrel. With the pistol grip, it'll look like a Teddy Roosevelt rifle.

Joe: I measured the cut that would have to be made and the transition from octagon to round would be too great. Step should be a pretty smooth transition..There are barrels that didn't have the "cut" so am seeking one of those in 45-75... Don

It is preferable to start with a 28" barrel so you can cut it past the mag. tube cut, leaving you with a 24" barrel. Look at posts under SHORTENING A 76 RIFLE for pix.

Joe: The barrel is cut in both directions length ways and sideways and I wanted a 28" barrel. 32" would be even better with a button mag.  Don

You sound like a man who knows what he wants. Good luck. I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished product.
