Inox experience?

Howdy to the Darksiders,

My local gun shop ran out of Balistol and had a pump spray bottle of Inox M3 in it's place.  The owner said Inox was actually better than Balistol so I bought a bottle.  The stuff is not cheap by any means!

It definetly does not have the caustic fumes like Balistol.

I took my 92 apart and the Inox lifted the orange rust right off the parts. (haven't had it apart in a while)

Just wondering how it will do shooting BP.  Has anyone had experience with BP and Inox?

( I can't shoot yet to test how it will react with BP because I found a broken cartridge stop spring.  Probably why I 've had trouble with it lately)

Thanks, Y-D

The best thing I have have found about Inox is that my wife hasn't complained.  I actually got to work on the gun indoors in the warmth!

I kinda like the smell of Ballistol myself, although I have yet to try it as a salad dressing.  ;D

If you buy it direct from Ballistol in the 1 gallon can, you should be safe for a while.

I understand the wife part, although it is Hoppees #9 that pushes her over the edge.

OK, well thanks for the opinions.

I like Balistol but it does make me wheeze if I get too much in my nose.  I was hoping somebody knew something about INOX.  I guess I'll find out for myself how it works in a lever action when my spring comes in.

I was just concerned because it says it repells water.  So it may gum up when shooting BP. Don't know.  The gunshop owner ( a black powder specialty gunshop) said it would work but he was referring to front stuffers.  I'll find out though.

Thanks again, Good day

The INOX web site says it doesn't wash off with water. Not sure if that is a plus when it comes to black powder, as water is usually involved in the cleaning process.

Sounds like an INOX review is in order when you try it out.

Ballistol has a variety of uses.  However, it is not intended as nasal spray. :D

After you try that other stuff out, let us know.  For BP and the subs the only cleaner I use is just plain old water.  The residue is basically dirt and water is the best solvent for dirt.  If Inox doesn't wash off, that might be a negative.

According to a note on the Ballistol web site, there might be a temporary shortage of the stuff.

Apparently they closed up shop to go to the shot show, and then they all came down with the flu, so they are still closed.

Anyway, when they start shipping again, an economical way to buy it is by the gallon, right from them ($80 bucks including shipping).  My wife wears contact lenses, and is always using up these 1 pint squeeze bottles of lens cleaning stuff. I resurrect the bottles from the recycling bin, peel the labels off,  and fill them with Ballistol from the gallon can, which means that there are bottles of Ballistol everywhere.

Like Pettifogger said, there are many uses for Ballistol....  one can not do without it. It is right up there with necessities like beer and toilet paper.
