I have a pair of Montana Boot Company boots made by Dave Viers over 20 years ago.  Before he left the boot business, I bought a number of tins of the boot dressing he sold.  Of course I have ran out.

It was a thick grease/wax that has done a great job of keeping the boots going.

What product do you think I should replace it with?
Ain't like the old days, but it'll do!

I like Montana Pitchblend or White's Boot dressing...other's mileage will vary........

neatsfoot oil or Ballistol.

Multiple applications of Ballistol will put a smooth surface glaze on it.

Neatsfoot oil just soaks in.

I've become a fan of this product we sell in the work boot dept:

Taken on Sunday about noon, these Boulet Shooter Boots have seen 4 days of rain at snow in Oct 2009 at Ft. Hartsuff, my feet are still dry.

The guys who work in feedlots love it.

Cookie,

Do you use the oil or the 8 oz. heavy duty LP? We could sure use some here on the dark side (ie. east) of the big river. Rain, sleet, snow and anything else ol mother nature can throw at us.

Is it good for saddle leather?

Hope all is well in Nebrasky.

Hope to see you in July.

If you're trying to waterproof, Hubbards Shoe Grease, as David said can't be beat. They used to make it in Newberg, Oregon, the city next to mine, but they moved. Good stuff.

If you're looking for conditioning, I'm with Chuck & many others; Montana Pitch Blend is a great way to go
