I called the local gun shop whose normally pretty good on new orders.  NMV 550 plus sales tax.

Yep, may be a decent price.
But you're gonna need an FFL to complete the order.
Or pay an FFL his commission to do it.

BTW---Who is Bud's?

You have to consider shipping charges and FFL dealer handling charges. I would guess that Bud's would cost the same or more in the long run and then if you had a problem with the gun or sale you would be possibly dealing with someone in another state.

Long Hunter as a good price on the SASS Vaqueros (paired w/ consecutive serial #'s) and the works already done in 357 & 45LC....worth a look.....  helps cut the spank of the FFL...   ::)

Longhunter Supply E-dress is around CAS City somewhere for he advertises here...   :) ;)

Good luck

Well for me Bud's has always been the cheapest by far. Now they are local for me, 10 minutes from me as well as my FFL dealer. As for transfer fees there is also no charge since I'm a yearly member of their range. I still find their prices the cheapest period regardless of the gun one wants to buy. I've beat every price I've seen on any other site by a few to up to $100. They do sell about 200 guns a day nation wide. It really is a large outfit, just my opinion but then I've never bought a gun via the internet until tonight when I bought a used gun here which will be sent to Bud's for my pickup.

Can't help you with a 5 1/2 in gun but got an e-mail today from CDNN in Texas. They have apparently gotten their hands on stainless New Vaquero .45's with the 7 1/2 in barrels for $399. I noted some time ago that Ruger had discontinued the 7 1/2 in New Vaqueros. CDNN deals in closeouts and discontinued models so I guess they bought what Ruger had left over.

CDNN is a good company to work with and the deals they have on overstock and closeouts is really good. Its too bad I like short barrels or I would take them up on that ;)

Part of my collecting problem is attempting to replicate guns and holsters used by stars of TV and movie westerns. I bought a 7 1/2 in stainless Vaquero and put faux ivory grips on it to replicate Stuart Whitmans gun on Cimarron Strip. Later I realized that Ruger had discontinued the 7 1/2 in version. I guess CDNN bought what was left over. I also bought a 50th anniversary Blackhawk from CDNN for a ridiculously low price of $359.
