Making sure everything is correct before cartridge OAL quest. Question is there any spring tension on the cartridge guide when the receiver is open, I have read that the cartridge guide blocks incoming cartridges, yet it appears that there is no tension on the Guide, only gravity. My spring appears correct and in good shape, and inserted with the radius point, pointing upward. Does all this sound correct with everybody out there.

Thanks again

There has to be tension on the cartridge guide for corect feeding from the magizine, take out the cartridge guide and check the spring it may be broken or moved back into the action to far and the nib is not enguaging the tail of the cartridge guide properly ,if it is broken S&S sell spares.A broken cartridge guide spring would explain the feeding trouble with the 1.6 inch longe blanks if the bullet profile is right but no the extraction

Herbert is right. It is very easy to get the tip of the spring behind the guide when reassembling the action. Be sure the tip is seated in the cutout at the back of the guide. If it's not, all the ammo will try to come out of the magazine at once, causing quite a jam.
