Saw some of these yesterday at a local pawn shop(actually they had 6 of them, 3 in .357 and 3 in .44Mag) The gun just made my short list, but I'm gonna get me a pair of Vaqueros first. They're running about $500 and also available in .45LC. Does anybody else have one? I can't think of what good they'd be other than the fun and cool factor of it.

Wanted one since they were previewed in American Rifleman, but I live in Massachusetts.

Rossi has not tried to get any of their handguns on the Massachusetts "list", so they sadly can not be sold here, at least not by a dealer.

Screw $600. I see 'em online like gunsamerica and auction arms. Or buy from out of state. Arrange for transfer with the FFL of your choice by having them fax a copy of their FFL to whoever you're gonna buy it from. Make your payment along with a note of that FFL and wait for your FFL to call you when it comes in. Pay your FFL his transfer fee (usually around $20) when you pick it up. So price of gun+shipping+transfer fee = and youve got your gun. Since purchase didnt take place in your state you shouldn't pay sales tax nor should your dealer do a markup (since you didnt buy it from him) $600 is high, I see them going for around $400

In Massachusetts the FFL is required to charge sales tax when he does a transfer, no matter the circumstances. They have to fill out a state form as well as a federal form, and are an agent of the state tax collector apparently during the transaction process.

It's so funny that in Massachusetts they are so anti-gun, yet depend on gun sales so much to keep the state going.

I like the Rossi one better. It looks more like the one used in the TV show. The Henry one is cool but too expensive for my tastes. I don't think any of them would be NCOWS enabled though and that would be my concern.

I will stick with the Rossi too, With a MSRP of over $900 I don't think  I will be buying one. I dont know about using a Brass Frame with a factory 45 Colt loading .22 would be fine but it looks like it would wear the gun with regular loads and not lower pressure Cowboy loads  What does the factory recommend?

I had a few email exchanges with a guy at Henry. I was asking him if they were going to get it on the Massachusetts Approved Handgun list.

He said they were going to do that, but first they have to start making it. Right now it apparently is not even in production.

"Prior to shipping to distributors, the guns will be sent for review to various State boards".

I just saw the Rossi version at a local gun show for under $400. That may make me buy one regardless of NCOWS rules. I just want one to have in my collection and to shoot just for the hell of it.

I bought one of the Rossi Ranch Hands this weekend at a local gun show. I paid $518.36 (that's $489.00 plus tax) and brought it home with me. The deputy sheriff checking the guns at the door asked me to let him know how I liked it when I was walking out the door with it. He was interested in getting one (a self professed Wanted dead or alive fan). It is a well made gun. A little sloppy in the wood to metal finish but not too bad. Otherwise it functions just fine. I've not had a chance to shoot it yet but am working on that. I'll let you know how it shoots when I get to the range. I know it's not NCOWS able but I think I can take it to other types of shoots (zombie shoots and others) and have a heck of a lot of fun with it. I bought the .45 Long Colt model. They had 3 others in .357, but I wanted a caliber that I reload and shoot all the time. All my CAS guns are in .45 so this just fits well with my collection.

Not sure if I want to spend my money on the holster but who knows. I just might have to have the whole rig.

I would post a picture but the stupid site keeps telling me that the image is too large. First is says it has to be under 350 KB. I shrik it down to 300 KB and now it says it has to be 150 KB. So I would post a picture but the people who run the forum has the image sizes set too small.

Dang that's nice. But mine cost less and it throws lead.  ;D

I could use the extra lead I have in my butt to cast bullets for it.  :P

I used to have the Hubbly (I think that's how it's spelled) version of the Rifleman's gun. It went the way of the do do when my parents divorced. I still have a Hubbly cap gun modeled after the old Remington pistol. Still in the original box with the Jessie James poster that it was sold with. I'll take a picture of it and post it sometime.

The guy shown on the page you have in the picture is the exact one I have. What do they say the value of it is? I paid $15.00 for it back in the 80s at a flea market. Still in the box with the wanted poster of Jessie James. I think I even have some old rolls of caps with it.

Here are some pictures of the cap gun. Check out this little beauty. I have all the parts for it and it's only been shot one time. The caps fit under a brass shell ring that covers the lead bullets that it holds.
