I have been enlightened once again by Fox Creek Kid.      
What about that Pearl Lube made of Crisco and beeswax that people use to good effect with those Big Lube Bullets? Crisco must do a good enough job. I know the softer the lube the better it works to keep fouling from accumulating. Maybe when peopleuse crisco and olive oil and the likethey don't put enough lubey stuff in the wax?  From what I hear people had S.Garbe soften his SPG Lube.
In my humble opinion .......any kind of lube stuff in a good enough concentration in the wax seems to work well. Naturally one can see if they do any cooking that olive oil stands heat better than other oils like Canola oil or vegetable oil.
I woud use sperm whale oil ifin I could find a whale to dress out. Where is any whale oil available? Anywhere? That is whata was used to good effect way back in the old days and was considered the best. What was used to make the real moose milk I guess. I guess one could walk the beach somewhere and hope to find a beached whale dead and ready fer giving up a hunk of blubber to render down into oil. I coudn't think of a good substitute fer whale fat oil. I have a pretty fat neighbor....well she's too nice to want to sneak a hunk of blubber offa anywhoooo.....

Auto transmission fluid is about as close as you will get to sperm oil this is what is substituted in Ed's Red it seems.

An interesting fact is that in outer space, sperm oil is the only thing worth a hoot to lubricate, nothing else works.

Lamb Lard-clean white color-U.S. Wellness Meats, Monticello, Mo.  877-383-0051,  uswellnessmeats.com.  Label also states processed by Brown's Smoke House Meats with phone numbers 573-384-5284 / 636-566-6112  There is a US Dept. of Agriculture stamp on the lid.  Yeah, I bought a case awhile ago.  It stays in the freezer.  Mixed with extra virgin olive oil it makes great grease for my K31 Swiss!  2 parts lamb lard to 1 part EVOO, it works! Swiss call it yellow Waffenfett.  Heat the EVOO first to eliminate any water in the EVOO.

I read thru this today and saw my offer of possible beeswax.
Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to a bee sting and all of my hives went to a friend.
I'm in the situation of buying beeswax my self.
I went the local slaughter house a year or so ago, confident that I could buy mutton tallow from him.
His reply to my question? "Who in the hell eats sheep?"

Hi I brought up this old thread because I finally found a good source for Mutton Tallow. I was going to buy from Dixie Gun Works, but from the new reviews on there product it doesn't sound too good.....and they are selling 10/12oz. jars as 1lb.

The lady is Real nice and her product comes out of Australia. It is 100% pure Mutton Tallow. Company has been around since 1895 and has been in her family since the 50's.

Her price is $10/lb but it is an honost lb and it is cosmetic grade.Here is contact info....(no web sight yet and that is why she was so had to find).

Rifle, where did you read that SPG contains mineral oil?
