Uberti 1876 45-60 loads

Hi Folks:
Just bought a Uberti 1876 in 45-60 off gunbroker
28" barrel
Bought 200 Jaimeson brass
Have not gotten it yet, so I'll need to slug the barrel to find out bullet size.

Thinking about the load, I have a coupla questions:
1.  I've got Swiss 1.5F and Schutzen 2F & 3F powder -- Is the 1.5F too coarse?  Would 2F be the best bet to start?  Is Goex "Cartridge" really a better powder for my cartridges?

2.  Mike Venturino mentions these bullets:  RCBS #45-300FN, Lyman #457191, Rapine 457311GC, NEI .458-300GC.  Springfield Slim casts a 300grain Big Lube.  Comments & testimonials on boolit choices welcome.

3. Magnum primer as Duke suggests?

4. Should I compress the powder, or put a walters wad over the powder?

5. I was planning on using Lyman dies -- good choice?

The Greenhill formula can be used to calculate the optimal twist for a bullet.  It is T=150(d/r) where T = twist rate, d is bullet diameter, and r is the ratio of bullet length to bullet diameter (length/diameter).  Working backwards to solve for bullet length, the formula is l=150*d*d/T.

For the Uberti 1876 .45-60 the twist is 20" and the groove is .456.  This yields a length of 1.56".  A solid lead .456 slug that long would weigh 730 grains.  A cone with that base and length would weigh 156 grain. My guess would be that the Big Lube would give the longest bullet. 

Perhaps Dastardly or Springfield could weigh in on the length of his big lube bullet.

The Swiss 1.5 with the Lyman #457191 will work very well.
