Dusty,

I brought her back as a 50-95, just couldn't resist the thought of a 50 cal.
As far as the next project...I have a few...I have another '76 I'm putting together for my dad, along with a '92 for him.
For myself, I have a '66 Musket I'm trying to bring back to life. I found it in Peru, in pieces. Missing the wood, mag tube and right side plate. It had been converted to center fire already, so I want to bring her back and re-create the 44 HCF cartridge it fired.
The agony I put myself through  ;).

Just thought I would give an update, waiting on a forearm tennon and need to slot the barrel for the mag tube end plug. Then it's off to the range.

Hey WC,that's gonna make into a couple of nice rifles. Is that 92 a factory short rifle. That will be a handy little Dude. I have a 1876 with a cutdown barrel 19.5" in 40-60. Thinking on having it bored out to .45 cal. and chambered to 45-75 wcf. Would make a handy short rifle or cannon.,,,,,,,Dusty

Well, it's been a long time coming. I finally took the 50-95 out to the range yesterday just to test fire the old girl.  Other than a minor timing issue there were no problems and no misfires.
I was shooting Jamison Brass, WLR Primers, Buffalo Arms 300 grn .510 bullets, with 14 grn of Trailboss.
I didn't go for accuracy or even to get numbers, just wanted to get lead down range and make sure she was going to work.  I had a handmade wooden target set up that kept falling over every time I shot at it. Sorry I didn't take any pics this time, but I will next time I go.
I can't seem to wipe the smile off my face! ;D

WC - Congrats!  I can only imagine the satisfaction your got from bringing this rifle back from the dead.  Good on ya!  What twist is your barrel?  It will be interesting to see what kind of accuracy you can get compared to the Uberti and Chappy .50-95 barrels.  The best my Uberti has done so far is about 1-7/8" group at 50 yards.  Not great, but not bad for a rifle of this type.

Thanks ndnchf and Dusty, It has been a long road less traveled but well worth it.
ndnchf the barrel is a 1:60 twist Green Mountain Barrel fitted by Nelson Waite at Okeechobee Shooting Sports gunsmith shop, in Okeechobee, FL.
I can't wait to get back out there and really work on sighting it in.
