Hobie, what I found interesting was the recommended loading data on the box.  The hint with the printed loading data is the cases were to be used for reloads.  Try and find a vendor that offers such information today, especially original powder information
Looking at many of the pictures of ammo boxes on various auctions, there seems to be a pattern of the alloys recommended.  Such as 1:11 and 1:14 for paper patch target ammunition and for levers, 1:15 and 1:16.  Why folks of today seem to embellish 1:20 and 1:30 is beyond me

I noticed that, too.  I think we have a fear of leading that comes from an earlier misunderstanding of fitting bullets to bore.

Got to put in my two bits worth here too.  I use both 20:1 and 16:1 and so far my rifle seems to like the 16:1 the best of the two alloys.  As far as the powder goes--haven't got around to using the Fg yet but am pretty close in that i use that Swiss 1½ almost all the time now.  Have used 2f and 3 f but that Swiss I really like.  Shoots pretty clean too--for me anyway.  I have to feel that the old timers sorta knew what they were doing with that 16:1 alloy.  I have not experienced any barrel leading either. ;)

Is there anywhere to purchase 1:16 alloy?  All I've seen offered is the 1:20.

I make my own alloy.  16 pounds of pure lead and 1 pound of tin.  I get my stuff from Buff Arms.
