A few years back, a friend had a Lee mold for a .45 cal. Minie ball. Just for chuckles, I tried it in my 3rd Model Dragoon. I believe it was 295 grains. Loaded it in front of 40 grains of FFF and at 25 yards, the accuracy was impressive. So was the recoil! Unfortunately he transferred before I could try some in my Walker. I only had about ten bullets, so I never got to try them at 50 or 100 yards. Has anyone else tried this?
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.

I've used 200 gr SWC's I cast (pure lead) from a Lee Mold in my Uberti 3rd Model Dragoon.
I use around 30 grains of 3F & top-over with my lube. The guns are heavy so they soak up the recoil well, even one-handed.
