Ran the Wisconsin State SASS Chapmionship match. . . . . . clean.

Yup, you read me right.  I was shooting Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter.  There were NINE of us shooting that category.  Some were fast and others were faster.  I was slow, so I decided to be accurate.  Big Lube®LLC bullets allowed me to do that.

My guns ran the ENTIRE main match, the Wisconsin State SASS Championship match, without a hitch or a hiccup.  I did NOT clean any of my guns between stages or between days during the match.  They just sang and hit where they looked.  According to the spotters they NEVER missed.

So, I have a laser cut steel feather inscribed "Fandango 2010 - Clean Shoot".  I'm proud of that ornament and will install it on my gun cart to remind myself that accuracy is always there.  All I have to do is get the sights on the target before pulling the trigger. . .

Congrats DD.
Hopefully we can get FCGF started here (or better yet, SASS wide). Thats what I have been shooting this year most of the time, and it is a hoot and a challenge.

I shot the Nebraska Blackpowder Shootout clean here a few weeks ago, but was shooting Frontiersman. I was loading roundballs in the old Walker, but the rifle rounds were the PRS 250s in my 73. It does make you feel pretty good!

I've started shooting FCGF also at our club matches.  It's a hoot to listen to all the gamers that have to two-hand their little poff-tink 38's mutter about the concussion.  I also shot the pistol targets clean.  Unfortunately, a couple of rifles uncharacteristically escaped.

I carefully culled out all the "stealth" bullets and then did several incantations and supplications over the others.  I used campfire smoke to get my revolvers in the mood and I drank a couple of communal beers the night before the match to cleanse my sole.  Then, come Saturday morning I did bow to the, actually it was the west, while looking for my sox under my bunk.

Other than those few things I don't recall any true witchcraft or ghost excising.

I had faith in my Big Lube®LLC boolits and the Holy Black pushin' 'em.  FWIW, the bp was Schuetzen FFFg.  It burnt clean.

Dick, Congratulations!  A 5 scenario is one thing but a multi day State match is bragging rights!
Get yourself over to the Stealth Bullet website - sign up and get your Order of the Golden Bullet, with Star (for a multi day clean match).  Col Dan will send you a jpg that you can put on your cart also.

Dick, I stand corrected ... you are already on the SBSS roster

Sir, you may have completed the match without missing any targets, however darksiders are never clean.

Dick Dastardly

Oh no Sir.  We're as pure as our white smoke.  We're as clean as the bright flames.  Our hearts are true to our devotion of the Holy Black.  The pure sulfur aroma fragrance is proof positive of our nobility of the order of the Soot.

No Sir, we are not dirty low down scoundrels practicing an unholy ritual.  That's the kind of propaganda promulgated by poorly informed practitioners of the unpure  heathen fad smokeyless propellant.

Come to the Darkside grasshopper, and learn the way of the One True Powder.  You will find warm genuine welcome here.

The Terror shot at the Australian National Championships and came first (pretty much where he always ends up. Thing was he shot the twelve stages clean. As his Dad says, ' don't get sucked into his slipstream!'

Well done Dan.

Howdy DD,

Congratulations on your clean shoot!

I was on a on a posse with you a few years ago in SE Wisconsin. You were shooting Gunfighter/Black powder. It was a real cool thing to watch.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Hey DD, great accomplishment. Congratulations pard. Clean match on BP makes it twice as sweet.

I have to hand it to that club. That feather is a fantastic award for a clean match. More clubs should do something like that. I would have it on my guncart too along with my stealth big lube bullets.  :)

Well DD, You are one up on me. I just finished shooting the Louisiana Black Powder Championship and after 10 stages ,6 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday I had one miss. I was at the loading table and the shooter behind me said Hey Fairshake you are clean for the entire match. That was stage nine and the first revolver bullet went over left shoulder. We also had several moving targets and a couple of swingers. Congrats to you Sir. It was 95 degrees on Saturday and I had to stop and take oxygen on stage four. Mav Dutchman, Capt. Baylor and a few other well knowns showed up. I went home with third in Frontier Cartridge.Later David

Just to prove it wasn't a fluke, those Big Lube®LLC bullets all hit steel again last Saturday at the Rock River Regulators monthly match.  It would have been clean but for two procedurals.  Seems I got confused and shot two targets out of proper sequence.  Dang.  But, the bullets did their thing again.

I'm shooting EPP-UGs and J/P 45-200s out of my open tops and Mav Dutchmans in my Browning 92.  Accuracy and function easily runs full matches with no need for cleaning.

This thread isn't so much about myself as it is about the Big Lube®LLC bullets.  They and black powder play very well together.

I'm just tickled when I shoot a stage clean.

I think I have to slow down a tad (although looking at the videos, I seem to be going backwards!) and practice more often (maybe just practice).

Durned good effort DD!

Well now. Good going Dick.

Hopefully you blew lots of smoke all over everybody?  ;D

Dick Dastardly

Thanks Pete,

You might want to know that we shot seven stages on Saturday and three on Sunday.  Saturday night I bragged for all I was worth on having shot seven stages clean.  You see, I expected a train wreck on Sunday and there's no bragging rites after the first miss, so I ran it for all it was worth on Saturday.  But, I didn't miss.  Neither did Mockingbird and he won the SASS state championship overall.  Now, that's bragging rites, even if he did it with heathen fad smokeyless powder.  Bird is fast.
