How did you make those speedloaders? Cut the base off and use some sort of cap on each end?

Tried all that stuff myself...was quite fond of paper cartridges back when I had more time on my hands than a person should....take that as I wasted a lot of time on it...but loading was sure fast...impressed the folks who saw me loadin', too.

I've settled on the flask & over-ball lube myself...keep my caps in a straight, in-line capper...the kind you just can't buy anymore.
Everyone certainly has a favorite routine. I'm not likely different...when I reload, I use a deliberate technique which gets the job done consistently and efficiently.

Our State Blackpowder shoot over this past Labor Day ended with a nice thunderstorm for the last few stages. I was shooting my Walker and a '60. I found that the very full recurve holsters help with this. Sure, rain can get in, but it has to get past a bit of leather that is 2 inches taller than the nipples.
That and the big hat, big body, and keeping the caps dry part. The rest of the stuff stayed in my saddlebag and stayed nice and dry. I had no problems at all, and even shot the match clean.
Now it was an off and on type of rain, so the biggest problem was keeping the gun dry. The loading times were not bad rain wise.

Do you have many CAS events in the Sahara Desert?

Here in the high plains desert of Wyoming, we may get 1-2 inches a year. That would be pushing it. Cold in the winter, yes. Rain? No.

I wish I could say the same for the Colorado Rockies, but we do have good Elk hunting.

Coincidently, we had a fine, steady rain for most of past Saturday's match in Milan, IL.
Thankfully, our range has been updated in the past few years to have covered loading/unloading tables for all bays...plus we've finished a number of covered stage fronts to shoot from...but, we still have a few out in the open.  Wearing my usual suit jacket, the pistols barely got damp from the weather. Can't say the same for my rifle & shotgun, but they dried out from the continued "heat" of firing. BTW, I used 1860 Colt C&Bs, 1866 Rifle & an 1887 shotgun. I was extra slow due to the overcast day & no breeze.

I've been trying to find a test that was done on all the caps, but I can't find it. It was to test them in wet conditions. The Remington was the worst one and wouldn't even fire. That stuck in my mind, because that's what I use.

I haven't compared brands side-by-side for damp weather performance, but do use CCIs (#10 & #11s), and a lot of them.
No misfires or failures of any kind this year with C&B....Wish I could say the same for some revolver cartridges used this year...4 bum rounds (primer-related) cost me 3 clean matches
