Are there any of these out there for a reasonable price, mainly for Civil War reenacting with blanks?
Thanks

If you are going to reenact with a spencer you might want to read this article before you buy a gun in 56-50.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

Terry,
Thank you very much for the link, I have read it before.  I really think that the 8mm Lebel brass will work great for blanks as they worked in my original Spencer Rifle I had years ago.  It was good seeing you at Bentonville in March.  Did you ever try loading the duplex load I use, they shoot so much cleaner.

No, I didn't try the duplex loads yet.
I am now shuting my computer down to go to the shop.  It should be back up in a few days.

I just saw the new retail price on the Taylor Spencer Rifle .56-50, $1590, now that is a lot of money, but I think I still want one as I think I can get it cheaper than that.

Keep yer eyes & ears open and they turn up once in awhile for a decent price - just one week shy of a year ago, I bought one for $700 on Gunbroker that the owner said he had "shot just a few times". It came with a 50 round box of Ten-X ammo containing 36 rounds, so I assume it was shot a grand total of two magazines full - 14 rounds - and looked like brand new.

Well I found one and it really wasn't cheap, oh well that's life.  I have Starline cases coming, bullets on the way, dies and brass for making blanks that I will use, no cheap plastic blanks for me, then again no expensive .50-70 brass for blanks either.  I have used 8mm Lebel in the past for my original Spencers and have no doubt that they will work in the Taylor Spencer. I will next be doing a search of the forum for loading data for live rounds, I have my own special load for blanks.

Thank you very much, it looks like a lot of very useful information.  Thanks again and I am looking forward to shooting my Spencer.

Hey Sean,

I'm still waiting for those magical words that indicate you want me to add your name to our Spencer posse, and I promise I won't tell anyone over there on the "Henry Forum" ::) ::) ::) that you've joined us ;D ;D ;D

Two flints,
I do love my Henry Rifles but I have always had a special interest in the Spencer.  I have own a Spencer Carbine which at the time I bought it was only $350(a long time ago) and I had a Spencer Rifle.  Unfortunately a few years ago my furnace went out and I needed money so I had to sell them.  I would be honored to have you sign me up with the Spencer Posse.
