I would send it back to Colt and have it fixed. Is it just aproblem with the cylinder or does the barrel have a peoblem to?

charlie-6

Barrel is great after 200 rds. it's the cylinder that peels off. call colt the gun is over 1 year old, colt will not cover the cost 6-8 wks turn around this one is going to be sold.

Shotgun Franklin

If you bought the gun new then Colt ought to make good on the finish. Call someone higher up on the food chain.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Ten Wolves Fiveshooter

Wish I could help, but I've never had any luck with nickle guns, the plaiting always finds a way to chip off, as nice as they look, I won't own one any more, unless it's for looks only and just kept in the safe.

charlie-6 this is all very interesting to me because I just bought a nickel SAA not to long ago. Would it be to much to ask for you to take a picture of your problem and post it on this thread?

Fox Creek Kid

Very simple:  whoever plated the gun did not properly clean & degrease before plating. Call Colt.

Colt say's i will have to pay to re-nickel the cylinder since it was made in 1991 does not matter to them that it was sold to me new per dealer 2 weeks ago. like i said will sell/trade for blue saa learn my lesson on colt nickel.
anyway thanks to all of you for the info. that is 1997 instead of 1991  hit wrong key

Cool.  I found one here that seems to have the same problem, but it was CHEAP.

Sounds good how cheap is cheap was the nickle in bad shape?
good luck

Tascosa Joe

The nickle was not bad.  It looks as if there was a clear coat on the cylinder and clear coat was peeling.  It was under a 1000.

Sounds about right on the price, several places to have the cyl. re-nickle think colt told me 70.00 4-6 wks return.

Tascosa Joe

I have some ambition to send it to an engraver and put Ivory on it.  We will see.  I have a lot of projects.
