Shrug.  That's straight out of the Blue Book of Gun Values.  If you've got a more authoratative source, let's hear it.

Okay.  I went to my stack of Cowboy Chronicles and pulled a random issue from the middle.  July 2005.  EMF has an ad for laser-engraved 1875's in 5 1/2 and 7 1/2, "made exclusively for EMF by A. Uberti".  If you were looking in the Blue Book under Uberti, try EMF, maybe listed there.

I have been dealing with EMF since about 1979. I have a couple of their catalogs from when I had my ffl in the 1980-82 period. Back then their main Colt "clone" was the Dakota and it was made by Jager.

They had listings for the 1875 Remingtons, even an engraved Outlaw. They also had listed the "rare" 1890. I wish I still had the price list, but I gave it to Debbie at EMF, as they didn't have a price list from that time frame. I do have listings for the parts and you could get a frame for $80.

Those earlier models had the post sight more like the originals. I sure wish I would have picked up one of them back then.

You could be right about that.  On the other hand, I mentioned the possible source of 1875s drying up to a friend who usually knows just about everything gun-related, and he says that EMF, for unknown reasons, has lost/given up their Uberti affiliation and are now just getting rid of present stock.  Cimarron, Taylors and others will be stocking them.

FYI, I got a peak at Cimarron's latest inventory and as of yesterday they had two 7.5" 1875's in 45LC and one 5.5" in .357.

Hey Wagon Box,

Either my eyes are playing tricks on me or one of your triggerguards are a bit "rounder" than the other. :-\
EMF sent me a new trigger guard, I updated the pic.  Now they both look the same :)

I bought a pair of 75 remingtons from EMF, & all I can say  is that I woouldn't recomend  buying that particular model from them. on acounta mine broke three times, within two weeks :o (figuer that out) To make a looong story short, I now shoot 75s from good ol' Cimmeron. I think the reason EMF is comming to a complete stop with that particular model is cause they just have a bad history with the 75 Remies :-\
Good luck pard.

Lightning Buck McGraw,

I'd be interested to know what the problems were with the guns so I can be prepared.  I can say that I've put a couple hundred 24 gr rounds through them and a dozen or so 38 gr rounds through each and haven't noticed any problems yet but that's certainly not a lot of time on the guns.

Having owened both Cimmaron and EMF, I'd also like to know what you see as the difference between the two Uberti builds.

Thanks

Willy,

The problem with them was that the "Trigger Bolt Spring" kept breakin on me >:(
I just got back from a shoot today & it happend again with my Cimmerons :'(
what I tink the problem is, is that the Trigger Bolt Spring, streight from the factory, is not made of the proper steel.
I would suggest buyin yerself one from www.vtigunparts.com
They sent them out to me within three days of orderin them. ;D Otherwise I haven't had any other real trouble with them..,
Other than the fact that they keep givin me precegerals. ???

The trigger-bolt and hand springs are by far the weakest part of the Italian clone, not just because of the design but the Italians just don't make good leaf springs IMO.  Except the main springs, they are so heavy they rarely break.  Don't know if it is the metal quality or finishing techniques (rough edges, stress risers).  They solved the handspring issue on some of the models with changing to coil springs, but those smaller springs can work for years or break the first time you shoot it.  Wire trigger-bolt springs don't break but a lot of us don't like them.  There's a lot of American companies making spring kits for these guns, and their springs are very reliable.

These should work:

I do NOT recommend the ''piano wire" springs as they give a mushy feel IMO and over rotation on many guns as well.

Thanks,
The Wolf spring looks like it will lighten the trigger which is something I don't want as I already have lightened mainsprings which have lightened up my triggers considerably.

Does VTI sell regular strength springs which don't come from Uberti?

On a lot of stuff like you are asking about the only way to find out what VTI currently has is to call them.  They don't always update their website every time they add a non-OEM part.  Give them a call.  They are always friendly and helpful.
