Tresco Nipples for the Ruger Old Army.

I've been shopping around for Tresco Nipples, and am being told they're for Remington #11 caps.  Are there Tresco Nipples for #10 Caps? Or does it not matter?

New to the Cap and Ball game.

I'm not sure why Treso and Ampco nipples are listed for #11 caps, because #10 Remingtons are a perfect fit on all Tresos I have ever bought.  (There's no "c" on Treso).

10s fit better, but 11s will work.  As accurately as I can measure, the only difference between a Remington #10 and a #11 is that the skirt on the #11 is shorter.  Since nipple cones are tapered, this effectively makes the 11 seem "bigger."

I recently replaced the nipples in my ROA's because #10 Remington caps(which fit Ruger's nipples perfectly) were just not available in the area where I live.  I called The Possibles Shop and asked for nipples that would fit CCI caps which are readly available here.  I was told that the Treso nipples were made for the #11 CCI caps.  I ordered two sets and they work perfectly.  The #10 Remingtons are a bit tight and the #11 Remingtons work well.

The Treso nipples are working fine with #11 CCI caps and I am not having to pay Hazmet fees to get Remingtons.

By the way, how is the decapper working for you?

It's working like a charm, pop out a few spent primers, then pop of the cap of a cold bottle containing an adult beverage.  Ends the shooting day quite nicely.

Thanks again!!

If you get the TRESO nips made for the Colt Dragoons (and perhaps the Walkers, too) you'll find they don't work with #10, only #11s work for me.  Rem #11s are best, followed by CCI/CCI Mags #11.  Those old guns ORIGINALLY use a #12 cap and have a longer taper on them.

I guess I'm still wondering why Terso nipples? I've shot plenty of CAS mathces with the stock Pietta nipples and Remington caps with no problems (two of them clean). I've even shot the Muzzle laoding pistol matches, with Santa Cruz Muzzle loaders, taken a forth against guy shooting $2500 dollar custom Queen Ann pistols.  My little, Pietta 1851 own against pretty good competition! And, without Treso nipples.
