I noticed on your web site that the new blocks you are making have an allen screw adjustment on the side of the block to maintain minimum clearance for the sprue cutter. Is this something I could add to my MAV Dutchman six holer by Lee?

The new moulds are very sweet. I have a Mav Dutchman by Lee via DD. I am sooooooooo tempted to sell it and buy one of the new ones they are such a classy mould.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

I looked on the site and didn't see a pic of a mould like this. Where was it exactly? I have one of the newer made moulds in 32 and it didn't have this. Must be a new feature.

Yes, this adjustment stud can be added to existing LEE molds.  Carefully drill and tap for a 10-32 socket head screw.  Don't drill too deep.  Make sure the stud lines up with the cam.

My existing stock of Mav Dutchman and EPP-UG molds are still LEE products.  They are all in spec and good to go.  As soon as that stock is sold down I'll be manufacturing my own.

I've tried very hard to eliminate many of the squawks that the LEE molds had.  The sprue cam adjustment stud is one example.

Right now I'm finally getting slowly above the back order back log.  I just got the DD-32 80 grain molds back in stock.  Yes, they do have the sprue cam adjustment stud.

Next, coming this week or next, will be the latest edition of the extremely versatile DD/PUK/ROA-II.  I'm having them cut .459" at the driving bands.  This will allow use in 45-70 rifles for Plainsman events.  Because the driving bands are very narrow, this bullet lube/sizes to as small as .447" and drops at .459".  I lube/size them to .454" for use in my ROAs, 45 Colt (Both ACP and Long) and Cowboy 45 Special for my 1860 open tops.  This bullet shoots very well out of my Thompson Center Seneca 45 Cal front stuffer.  I've been getting very favorable reports on it when used in 1911 Colt 45ACP pistols with black powder.  This is possible the most versatile 45 Cal. bullet in the Big Lube®LLC stable.  And yes, with it's flat nose it shoots very well in 45 Colt tube magazine rifles.

Some guys on the castboolits forum have added this to their moulds also, keeps from damageing the soft aluminum mould with the steel sprue handle. It's a good idea.  Some of my older molds could benefit from this, may have to get around to doing it someday.

If I did the drilling at the obvious point of wear on the block would I be in the right place?

Sounds like it's time fer a picture series/description of the process of doing the upgrade!

Here's a file photo showing the stud.  It fully contacts the sprue cutter cam just short of the cam end.  I can get actual measurements if needed.

DD, I'd feel better with some measurements.

Howdy Noz,

Center the stud on the top rail at .265" from the end on LEE molds.

P.S. The DD Big Lube®LLC molds have both rails the same size.  This more robust platform allows easier placement of the cam adjustment stud.

Recieved my new DD/PUK/ROA-II Big Lube mould today.  What a beauty.  Looks to be top quality.  Can't wait to get casting with it.  100% made in the USA.  Thanks Dick for the great job.

Hell-er: Could you manage to send me a dozen of those new bullets? I would like to try them out before ordering the new version of the mould if I could. Thanks

Blackpowder Burn

I've got one of the new molds I am using in the 45 ACP as well as 45 LC.  It is really nice.

I might actually try the bullet in a 44 cap-n-ball one of these days!

Slim,

As soon as I cast some, hopefully in the next couple of days, I'll send you some.  I have your address on your business card.  I'll let you know when they're on the way to you.
