Has any one ever seen a stamp like this? Might have been custom made. KT

JD Alan

No, but it sure looks cool! In fact the whole piece is outstanding

If any one knows please let me know. I would like to buy one. KT

Looks like they used a modified mules foot turned into a punch, with a camoflage stamp.  A close look the pattern is very good but not perfect so I doubt the made a cutter for the individual sections.  Just a guess.

KT,

Why not ask the artist that made the gun caddy...appears to me that it is David Cole from DC Knives.  He is in here quite offten and I am sure he would'nt mind telling you what he used

Is it a plinking punch?  Im not sure how small they can be had but I have one that is 3/4".  I have seen them with sharp pointed ends, like plinking sheers, and rounded, as shown here.  I like that idea on sharpening a stamp into a custom punch, got to remember that one.

Kid Terico

Outrider, Dave sent it to me and asked if I knew. He had no idea. He has no idea who made it. KT ???

I assume we're talking about the pinked edge cutter - if so it's most likely a pinking iron - here's one source for new made ones - he should be able to duplicate this one....

Also take a look on Ebay or call Bob Douglas or check the vintage/antique leather tool suppliers since many old ones are still around as well

Thanks Chuck, I really appricate it. KT

You're welcome KT -
FWIW - You can make cutters up from various punches - I've made them in 3/8", 5/8" ,and 1" but it's one scallop at a time  - the scallops on my sheaths such as Mex Loops and the border on some of the botas were cut using my home made ones, but again they're are only simple single scallop cutters and not the mulit-cutters like pinking irons.

KT, I made one from a mules foot I had a duplicate of.  It works, but now I need to learn how to control it around a circle.  A Pinking punch would be easier.

Rick, I believe you mean Pinking.  Your Mother may have used Pinking Shears when Sewing.  The Pinking refered to in the above photo's was a way to make ladies garments (Sleeves, hems etc.) have fancy edges for style.

My Grandmother also said it was a way to help prevent the threads from raveling out in a piece of cloth -- since it cut the edge in alternating directions.

Don't know myself, I'm not much of a garment-maker. (Major understatement) ;)
