My rendition of Will's Hand of God holsters

They still need a coat of Skidmores or two, which should darken them up just a tad more, but for the most part they are done for now. I also need to make the tie downs, but that can come later.
These are really fast holsters. Its a nice compromise for us that dont like to build buscaderos and buckets, but still want a somewhat fast draw option.
The belt is a work in progress, that I just grabbed for the pics. I have had a heck of a time getting the edges to lay down on the belt. I also built it with the Maker stamps on upside down, so...... :-[ Its very comfortable though.

I did not do the antiquing that Will mentioned, but did use my year old dark blend coffee dye, EVOO, and more coffee, which gave it a somewhat antiqued but not overly worn look.

Also, ignore the strange moccasins in the photo. The Nike tribe was visiting when I took the photos.

Excellent Dalton, I really like your carving, and the pebble grain leather you used for the gun belt is awesome, where did you find it, looks like my Granddads old money belt.

Will will be proud of you on this, the whole rig is beautiful, to say the least, great job, and well done ::) :o 8)

10W, the belt is buffalo from the Leather Guy. Its not veg tanned, but I like the texture and the feel. Its kind of cushiony when worn.
Thanks for the comments on the holster. Its Will's fault. He writes excellent instructions! ;)

Dalton, that is an outstanding job! I have a question though. From the top is does not look like you lined them, but that one bottom shot looks like it's smooth lined. Waz up?

I think the smooth look with stitching comes from a toe plug???

Shux, late again and also let me say that it looks great Dalton.

JD Alan

Having never done a toe plug, my brain doesn't go in that direction, but now that you mention it I see it. That's really good work Dalton. So, does the toe plug help keep the shape of the holster, and if so, does it serve any other function?

Dalton Masterson

JD,
It keeps the holster very rigid in the toe area. It also kind of keeps the holster open somewhat too. Imagine a little leather box built around the muzzle of the gun, and that is basically a toe plug.
They also keep the mud/snow from coming in the top, and keep the mud/snow from going OUT the bottom :-\. I normally punch a drain hole in the toe plugs I do, but I didnt on this one.
Try one JD, they take some time, but arent that bad once you have done one.

NOW NOW NOW, do not try to fool JD, he knows the Bible.  After the seventh day the Lord looked at his work and said all is good, so feeling very generous, he gave an eighth day to Lucifer and demanded his best.  So it was that the ole devil created a toe plug and God looked on it and said this is evil and will cause my children who take up working the skin of animals to do all sorts of evil cursing and gnashing of the teeth over such a wicked idea and so it was that the eighth day was erased forever and Satan was cast down.  Keep thine hands clean and only sew flat round closures here and forever forward......

Dalton Masterson

Shhhhh, SHB. I figured with him having help from above, he might be able to cast that demon away!

Beautiful work! Looks like it is right out of the pages of "Packing Iron". Many thanks for sharing this with us.

I gott'a say Dalton, that is excellent work!  And, I'm not just sayin' that 'cause of the pattern, or that God's hand was with you.  That's just some nice work.  Well done.
