I just got a pair of black high top shooters boots that are very shiny. I know the best way to make them look used and well
worn is to wear them. But  is there anything to use to remove the polish? Dull the finish then oil them is what I want. Thanks

Men took care of their footwear when possible - and originals were polished/dubbed at the time.

To get a 'used' look - wear them in tall, wet grass - then use dubbing.

These will be your new work boots. They'll look old then.

Come on down to the desert and we'll go in a couple of old mines and walk through some rocks and prickly pear cactus. That'll do it.

Is this what ya mean? It only took me about a year of tramping thru the sand, rock, gravel and brush on many matches to get this patina...
