Shotgun Steve;

I do believe that there are still pack mules in the Army ... I know I had a military instructor in the 60s who had claimed he had packed mules in Korea, and I have heard rumors of the Army using mules to reach the more impassible regions of the mountains in Vietnam ....
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

Yupper,
Recent Theatre activity in Afghanistan has brought back the use of same, sorry I can't put my feeble mind on the exact article or date but it was written in the past year or so as a historically-still-in-use type of item. If I find it I'll post ASAP, perhaps others will do it before me.
Best regards and "Gee, Haw!"
