Granted, civilian rifles rarely wore a sling pre-1900.  You do occasionally see a civie long arm with a leather sling.

I have considered putting a sling on one of my Hi Walls to improve it's portability (it tips the scales right under 13 pounds).

Does anyone have a good resource or retailer that produces a period sling swivel to keep this firearm as period correct as possible.

Any hints or suggestions welcome.

Panco;

If you refer to The Winchester Book by Madis*, there is a section on all of the different sling options offered by Winchester.
Some of them are quite similar to the ones offered today.  I have talked with a gunsmith about building or modifying sling swivels for my '66.
