I cast my own, but there are many Civil War suttlers that can be found on line which I'm sure can help your friend.

Have they tried Dixie Gun Works? They (DGW)  should also sell a mold for such a critter.
When the cambrian measures were forming they promised purpetual peace. They swore if we gave up our weapons the wars of the tribes, they would cease, but when we disarmed they enslaved us and delivered us bound to our foe and the Gods of the copybook headings said, "Stick to the devil you know." BA1103 Dixie Cast Mini Bullet  475 grain .575 diameter $36.95 per 100 rounds.  That's close as I could find for y' pard.

Guys, his springfield '61 is shooting all over the place and he's at a loss what to do. 15" groups at 100 yds. This is outta my area of 'know how' and I dont know what his problem is now.

Any good suggestions ?

And thinks for the help...

The rifled musket isn't my area of expertise..but, The usual suspects would be:
- Diameter of the bore/groove
- Diameter of the projectile

I assume the mini-balls are hollow-based...thus, the powder charge, granulation, etc must produce enough pressure to expand the hollow base to fit the bore. If more powder and/or finer grade do not help, look for a bullet with a thinner skirt or casts to a larger diameter (which may be harder to load). This should help it expand.

Fouling from shot to shot will also open groups.

Hope this helps,
Slim

What Slim said and check the sights to be certain that they are tight.  I once went crazy trying to figure scattered hand loads out when it was a loose front sight.

Would there happen to be an English version of that website ???
(I'm a little "rusty" with that lingo)

Thank-ye kindly!

You must Google: svartkrutt.net rifle musket and minie ball. If you put it in the address box, you'll get the foreign lingo. If you GOOGLE it, you'll get the English version...... at least that's what happens with my computer....go figure.
